Infertility

I may be in an IF news story....

For those who don't know, I work in a local news station. A good reporter friend of mine and I were talking this weekend about my weight loss and upcoming IVF cycle next year and all of the misconceptions people have about fertility treatments, and she asked me if I would ever consider letting her do a story about our journey. Once we started talking about it we got kinda excited and we are thinking about pitching it to our boss in a couple weeks.

Basically she would follow us through the whole IVF process. It would be broken up into four parts. Our back story, stimming and monitoring, the retrieval and transfer, and the 2ww and results. We want to get interviews with my doctors and possibly some reps from Resolve too. We would run one part a day for Infertility Awareness week in the spring.  Now this all depends on me losing weight in time to do an IVF cycle in Feb./March so it could be edited and packaged in time for IF week.

What do you think of the idea? Got any ideas to include? Am I nuts for doing this?

Re: I may be in an IF news story....

  • I think it's fantastic!!! I know I would love to see someone else going through IVF step by step before I did my first cycle. What a huge help to someone going thru/ about to go thru a cycle. Not to mention the education to those who have clue what IVF really is. I applaud you!!!

  • You are such an amazing, generous, brave person for even considering sharing your story like this. You could totally be ready in time, and it would be a great motivator. This is a great opportunity to not only help those that may be considering ART in their own future, but to educate the friends and families of cycling couples.

I would like to see these things mentioned if there is room:
         healthcare coverage, or lack thereof
         handling work schedules and cycling
friends & family, how to be supportive and what not to do/say

can you add in a section for those who have no clue?  something like "stupid advice that doesn't help and isn't true"   and some info on contacting lawmakers for IF coverage
