Ok, so I just wanted to watch a silly, fun, stupid movie. Couples Retreat was on cable last night so DH and I watched it. Well, the main couple was going through IF and it had taken such a toll on their marriage they were contemplating divorce!!!! DH looked and me and I said I swear I had no idea that IF was even remotely mentioned.
The commercials made it look like a dumb, funny movie. It wasn't really that funny (the best parts were in the commercials, of course) and I actually thought it was kind of sad. Ugghh, I hate when I am blindsided by IF in a movie. Had I known, I def. would not have watched. and of course, once I started, I wanted to finish it. GRRR!!!

Thanks for the head's up! I definitely would have watched that movie just expected some silly Vince Vaughn antics and would have been upset to see that.
They do mention seeing a specialist. It's very late in the movie (when they go to the other island-Eden East) and very brief. And yes, I remember when she said that she couldn't get pregnant (I thought the same thing-so they got tested and it's her issue). I guess us IF'ers are the only ones who analyze all these things. I guarantee you a regular movie-goer would have probably never noticed any of these things.

I felt blindsided also watching that movie. If you want something funny to watch (at least to us) my DH and I enjoyed Date Night with Tina Fey, Steve Carell and a shirtless Mark Walberg.
I'm sorry you felt blindsided. I had been warned about it and actually didn't think it was handled badly in the film. IF can take a huge toll on your marriage, so I don't think it was weird that they were contemplating divorce -they obviously had other problems and IF just magnified them (IF has a way of doing that). I liked at the end though how they DIDN'T have her get pg on the vacation! It was refreshing to not have that happen!
I felt blindsided by watching Did Your Hear About the Morgans, which actually had much more IF in it. And (SPOILER ALERT) just as they decide to adopt, whadya know but she gets pg on their little trip out west. Ugh, that ending made me so mad!

You're right. They definitely had more issues than just IF in the movie. I'm so glad you mentioned the part when she doesn't get pg on the vacation. As soon as I saw them getting busy, I was thinking, oh yeah right, sure she gets ku now. I was glad they didn't do that.
I heard that about Did You Hear About the Morgans. I will def. be staying away from that one! Thanks for the heads up.
