I had one with my first but it was 4 years ago, and I feel like I've forgotten everything from that pregnancy. I'm sure they're all slightly different, but did you receive the result right away? Did you see a doctor to discuss them while you were there?
I had to send in my blood sample last week, and I'll have the u/s next week.
Re: Tell me about your NT scan
It's no different than a simple ultrasound. My perinatologist came in and told me the results right away after the scan.
I didn't have to send in blood. They did it there.
DD - February 2011
I went for my blood the week before, so he was able to give me the results while I was there. He did the measurements, told me everything looked good, and to meet him in his office for the official stats which he does on the computer. My risk for Downs was that of a 20 year old (I'm 28), so he said all is good, that nobody's risk is 0.

it's the Bug and Baby Belle!
They were able to confirm that the baby's NT was in the right range, that the nasal bones were developing on target, and that we weren't looking at the swelling and cystic hygromas that doomed our first pregnancy. All body parts were accounted for, and the baby's heart looked awesome. The tech confirmed all of that, and the doctor came in to talk about it with us.
It was really the focus on the nasal bones and NT itself that was different this time around, from other u/s.
Our blood work comes back this week, but the doctor told us he isn't too worried after the ultrasound. I know enough to know that's not really a total guarantee, but it's a major step in the right direction.
