December 2010 Moms

Early Dec moms are you traveling for Turkey Day?

Our LO may be here before Turkey Day and then this turns into a non-issue.  My family has Turkey Day about 1.5 hours away form my hospital.  I would really like to go but DH thinks I am crazy. MH is overly careful but maybe I should just go along with him. What are your "plans"?

  • I'm due 12/4 and I'm not supposed to go more than 50 miles from the city for the last 6 weeks, so as of 10/24 I'm "grounded". I was hoping that our family would come here for Thanksgiving, but they haven't really seemed to want to. So I guess it's going to be a lower key turkey day.
  • I'm December 8th and we're not traveling for Thanksgiving. Our family is 8 hours away up in Pennsylvania and its just not worth the risk (nor do I want to sit int he car that long being that pregnant!)

  • I'm due the 8th as well but we only have about a 2 hr drive to get to my uncle's house for Turkey day so we are going.

My OB hasn't put the travel limits on me yet but my family exceeds the 50 mile radius so I guess I will be spending Thanksgiving with my husband.  I have an appointment on Friday I will ask my OB then.

  • I'm due Dec 3rd and my family lives 4 hours away.  No, we will not be going anywhere for Thanksgiving.  Even if it were 1 1/2 hours away, I still wouldn't go.

  • We haven't decided yet. We usually do my MIL's house early in the day and then my mom's house later. MIL lives about 2 miles away, so we'll probably still go there, but my mom lives about 45 min from us. I will be just about 40 weeks, and I'm kinda worried about it, especially with the traffic. I'm afraid that if I went into labor we wouldn't be able to get to our hospital. Traffic is HELL on turkey day up here (NH/MA line). I think we'll play it by ear.

  • I've never been a big Thanksgiving person (I don't eat meat), so being due December 3rd is a perfect excuse to do whatever I want that day.  My family all live relatively locally (40ish minutes away), so I have let them all know I will decide that day what feel up to doing.
  • I am not due till the 18th and we usually go to my brothers house which is 45-60 min away so we will still go.
  • I'm hosting. Because I'm sure I'll feel like cooking the turkey, cleaning the house, having guests, right?! Confused

  • I'm due at the end of Dec, but my docs said that they wont let me go longer than 12/6. We aren't going anywhere for Thanksgiving...in fact, as long as the babies aren't here or I'm not in the hospital I've told my DH to volunteer for duty so that someone else can go away for the holiday.
  • I'm due 12/3 and my DH graduates from bootcamp the week of Thanksgiving. I'm going (400+miles) but have to take hospital papers with me and my doc does not seem worried even though my son came early (36wks).

This. My family lives 2 hours away and my SO has to work and doesn't think it would be a good idea for me to make the drive alone. So, I offered to host instead...I already regret it.

  • I'm due 12/8, and we go about 2 hrs to my aunts house for thanksgiving. Knowing my luck, I've already planned on going into labor at her house, praying there's no traffic on the GW bridge between NY and NJ on the ride home and having my bag in the car, just in case.

  • I'm due 12/2 ut thinking he may be here before Turkey Day. If not, I'd like to make the rounds to his side of the family. My side is a bit iffy. My mom works retail and my dad may or may not be working out of town. If that is the case I will have my mom and brother over for a small dinner @ some point.

  • Yep, I'm due on 12/3 and we usually go see friends in Napa for Tgiving (1 hr away).  I am planning on doing so if I haven't gone into labor already, but I like the idea of bringing the hospital bag with!  I really would like to get that one last visit with friends in, and also see my beautiful Napa mecca one more time before I can't go for awhile (although I WILL be back!)

I was hoping baby would come early, like later on Tgiving weekend, but just asked my Dr if she'd be around for the holiday and she is gone 5 days on either side!  Have you asked your Dr about this yet?
