Mom of the year here...

okay, I'm sure I'll do way worse things over time but today was the first time i've really thought to myself... "that was a real smart one, Sarah."

C loves to crinkle paper.  We let him do this with the newspaper ads on Sunday Mornings while we all lay in bed.

So today I'm at the grocery and put the grocery list in his lap so I could see it and so he could crinkle the paper.  I turned to get something and come back and he's gagging... because he's wadded the paper around a couple of fingers and those of course went right in his mouth.  Since it was notebook paper, it shredded quick and he was gagging on it.

My instinct just kicked in and I shoved my finger down his throat.  He spit up and that dislodged the paper.   But geez, how dumb am I to give my not even 6mo old a piece of notebook paper.

Re: Mom of the year here...

  • I did this about a month ago, so at about 6 months too. I was wearing Evan in the Baby Bjorn and he was holding the grocery list. I couldn't actually see him since he was in front of me looking out, but I thought he was just crinkling the paper. Nope, he was trying to eat it. DH came around the corner and noticed half the list was missing and pulled it out of Evan's mouth.

So, at least you know you aren't alone. I'm sure we will do more "wonderful" things as he becomes more mobile.
