Warm and snuggly without swaddling?

DD sleeps so well in her car seat and in her stroller (we just took her for a walk, she fell asleep in the stroller and is still sleeping... in the stroller... in my office)  As long as I don't move her, she'll stay asleep for hours, whereas her naps in her crib are about 45-60 minutes. She can roll from from to back and vice versa, so I don't want to swaddle her... but how can I get the same snuggly car seat feeling while she's in her crib?  We just put the BundleMe on the carseat and stroller last week and I think that's making her naps even LONGER (which is great!)... anyone have any ideas for making her feel snug in her crib?

Re: Warm and snuggly without swaddling?

  • No advice but I'd like to see the advice you get, DD sleeps better when all snuggly too.  I do what I can with her in her crib (sleep sack, sleep positioner and a light crocheted blanket.  She likes to hold onto something so she grabs the blanket... I would give her her lamb lovie but he always ends up over her face.  blankets stay put.) I know sleep positioners and blankets are considered no nos, but she sleeps better with the positioner and the blanket.  I have the angel care monitor and the video monitor and she doesn't move much at all when she sleeps.  Her head goes side to side and that's it.  If I could figure out a way to make her feel more snuggly than that, possibly without hte positioner... that would be great!

We give DD a light blanket to hold, and THAT always ends up on her face, at which point we remove it from the crib.  She doesn't like the positioner because it doesn't let her roll onto her side, which is now her favorite sleeping position.

I just e-mailed them to see what their return policy is (their website it a little vague)... I don't want to spend $40 for a product that doesn't work!

  • I couldn't get DS to sleep longer than 1-2 hours in his crib. So I decided to try and make it as comfy as possible because I thought that might be the problem. I bought a mattress pad from babiesrus: https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3206686

And on the recommendation of a friend, the chamois crib sheet from Pottery Barn Kids, which he uses to self soothe by rubbing his hands on (it is snuggly and never feels cold to the touch): https://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/chamois-crib-sheeting-boy/

I got him out of his sleep sack, because he can roll now, put him in footed pajamas from Carters, and on his first night with the pad, sheet and pjs he slept 6.5 hrs straight. He regularly STTN now. I think his crib was just too cold and uncomfy before.

  • my LO sleeps so much better in her swing too.  her crib mattress is propped for AR so awhile ago i doubled up the receiving blankets that are under her sheet to make a U so she doesn't slide down.  trying to make it a bit more nest like.  cozy.  not sure if it works though because she's always been a crappy sleeper at night.  and not sure how it would work if your LO is rolling and what not.  i think i might try the sheets the PP suggested.

not sure if we have the same lamb lovie but in hopes to get LO to try and self soothe, i started giving her a lamb lovie a few weeks ago.  it's a blanket with a little lamb head on one corner....  i just tie the two ends that don't have the lamb head into a knot so she can't put the blankie over her face.  it makes a nice little lamb kabob.  she just likes to eat it instead of use it to fall asleep.  doh!

That's me! Three nights of good sleeping from this thing! Although last night he did 7 hours instead of 12. I'm definitely ok with one wake up, though! I'm still hoping it lasts and it's not just because it's a new thing. I'll report back after a week of use.

Aww.  The one I have on her is a hand crocheted one, so it has a lot of holes, and she never pulls it over her face.  I tuck it in on the bottom so she has a hard time pulling it even if she were to try.  However, with the lambie, somehow she always gets it stuck over her face.  I think she tries to rub it/rub it on her face then can't figure how to get it off haha.

DD does best when you lay her down to sleep somewhat on her side but always rolls to her back eventually.  I am able to put her somewhat on her side in the positioner.

She's doing pretty well recently, I hope yours starts to too, and you figure out how to get her all comfy snuggly!

Ours isn't really a blanket.  It looks like a stuffed lamb head and the body of a stuffed lamb just without fluff.  Kinda looks like they took it, flattened it out and removed the fluff.  I don't think I could tie it in a knot... I will have to look into it.  She loves the soft fluffy side and the cool satin-y side...
