So today I went to IL's to for a huge pitch-in for the parade that goes through our little town. I was sitting there eating with my family and we looked over and this little boy was standing by himself with his shoes on the wrong feet. He was the most adorable little boy EVER! I started a convo with him asking his name and age, he told me his name was Kayden and he was three but not anymore because now he is four. So stinking cute. So I asked who he was here with and he said Sarah...who I don't know, but it was obvious that no one was caring about his wherabouts. GRRRR parents who do this just piss me off. So after I sat there for a good 20 minutes and he didn't move and no one was interested in his well-being, I offered to take him up to get a plate of food. He held my hand through the line and was eager to load his plate. The only non-sweets he wanted were mashed potatos, so I got him a bunch and some cookies. I brought him back over to eat and he started to eat when this lady walked up and said, Kayden what are you doing? I told her he was eating because I went and got him a plate. She ripped the plate out of my hand and said "UMMM NO, he hasn't eaten anything for three days, and he is not eating sweets." I was familiar with this girl from the church we used to attend, and I knew this wasn't her child but probably a friends. I was furious once this happened. I wanted to throat punch her, not only because she ripped the plate out of my hand but because she neglected this poor boy for almost an hour. So I was so pissed that I had to walk away. I went inside and consulted in DH and he was shocked. We both agreed that he should eat something because something is better than nothing. Then she walked in and said..."oh I am sorry I didn't mean to be mean but" I cut her sentence of and said "I don't want to deal with this." and I stormed out the door. It still upsets me because she didn't even know where he was the whole time. Was I over-stepping my bounds?
Re: Need input(long)
he hasn't eaten anything for three days
What's that all about?
You didn't overstep your bounds. Maybe she was concerned about him eating food from a "stranger"? She was also probably embarrassed that she was supposed to be watching him and he escaped for over an hour.

She knows me though! So I really wasn't a stranger to her, but just to him.
What about the not eaten for 3 days thing?

What's even more concerning is that I saw her eating her plate while I was eating. The fact that she didn't even fix him a plate or consider if he wanted to eat was just alarming. I really wanted to take him home with me
