If you've been to Dewberry Farm...

Is there enough for an almost 2-year-old to do? I have this urge to take William to do all sorts of fun things before baby brother comes, and this seems like a ton of fun for older kids, but I'm not sure about toddlers. Any thoughts?

Re: If you've been to Dewberry Farm...

  • We went last weekend with DD who is going to be 3 in November.

She really enjoyed it, but she had her cousins with her and that makes a difference.

I'm not sure how active your William is so it is hard to say what all he would enjoy.

DD liked:  the animals in the barn, the area called Little Farmersville (especially the corn crib, which I think might be new this year), the larger playground that is like a fort (but honestly, she was too small to do many of the things that most kids would do on/in the fort - but she is on the small side for sure), the air pillows (she and DH had one to themselves for a long time), the rope swings over the hay (she couldn't really do anything but she liked climbing in the hay and DH helped her hang on and swing a couple times), the large rollerslide (she went down with DH), the black momba swinging tubes, the train ride, and the corn maze (to some extent).  We never made it out to the actual pumpkin patch.  She spent some time watching her cousins fire off corn cobs and water bottles at targets, and other big kid stuff.

I will say that I took DD last year with a few friends her own age and they did have a good time - even though they couldn't do a whole lot.

  • I think the Oil Ranch has more to offer a little one that age. I like Oil Ranch better myself though so maybe I'm biased.

  • we went last year with the playgroup, and it was fun, but it was so crowded and overwhelming (to me even!) that it wasn't a lot of fun.  I think we're going to try to hit up the pumpkin patch at the Nature Discovery Center this weekend instead.

Zoo Boo is a lot of fun for the littles as well.

  • we took my dd and ds last year, even though ds was only about 4 months old.  ds didn't do anything but dd loved it.  they have a terrific toddler only area playground.  and my dd loved the animals and the hay ride.  i think it'd be worth it.
  • We just went last weekend, and though our child is 4, I would say that a little one would have tons of fun, as well. There were lots of toddlers toddling around having a ball.

I'd recommend the latter part of a Sunday afternoon if you want to beat the crowds. It really cleared out about 4pm last Sunday.
