ultrasound today has me concerned :(

Hello Ladies. I went and had and US today, and i was curious as to what you all thought. When they did the us, they found the sac and the yolk, but no baby to be detected yet, and i was wondering if you all think it is too early to tell yet? My HCG level was almost 9400, and i am thinking maybe i am earlier than they thought i was. So idk, i am very concerned that something has gone wrong. I read that it can be 8 weeks before they detect the baby via ultrasound either vaginal or external. As when they did the external one they didnt see the yolk, but when they did the vaginal they did see the yolk...i am just very concerned something is not right.

Did they seem concerned? And do you have another appointment set up to look again in the next week? If they didn't seem concerned I wouldn't be either. Maybe if you don't have another u/s scheduled for sometime soon you could at least go get your HCG checked a couple more times and see.

Are you basing your dates off of LMP? It could very easily be that you ovulated later than normal. I had one just 5 days earlier than you at 5w2d and there was just a g-sac and yolk sac. A couple of days makes a big difference this early.

The tech didnt really seem like anything..We had to have it done at the hospital, rather than the ob office. i have my next ob appt on tuesday at 3:30pm. So we will find out then what she thinks. i have lost the past two babies i was pregnant with last year, and being pregnant now with this concern only makes things more hard. i am sure she will schedule more tests immediately as she is a very attentive ob.

yes, they are basing it all off of my LMP. So we are thinking that i am not as far along as we estimated it to be, which would make total sense. I mean i do not think that i would have high levels nor a yolk if there was no baby somewhere in there...idk, i am just really concerned and trying not to be

It is entirely possible you ovulated late. I ovulated on day 20 this cycle, so my lmp puts me about a week ahead of where I actually am. Just a few days makes such a big difference on u/s right now and if you weren't charting there is a good chance you just o'd late!

Try not to worry-- I know it's easier said than done. My doctor's office doesn't even schedule the first ultrasound until after 8 weeks.

I'm sorry you're going through this. I had my u/s last week and according to my ovulation date I was expecting to be 5w6d. The u/s tech told me that she expected to see a sac and yolk sac, and if we were lucky (i.e., she wasn't expecting it), we would see a baby and the heartbeat. It turns out that I was one of the lucky ones, and we did see the heartbeat. I also measured exactly according to what my ovulation date was (I was charting).

So, like the previous posters said, I wouldn't be too concerned, since either you are not as far along as you thought due to late ovulation, or even if you are 6w, you might just not see it yet. Hopefully you will get some reassurance at your next appointment! Good luck!

With my son we were thinking I was about 8 weeks, then had the ultrasound, and we were only 5 weeks, so it may all just be you ovulated later, than norm. Keep your chin up!!
