We will be formula feeding, and I'm at a loss for which formula to choose. For those of you that are also FF, please vote for which option you are planning on using. Thanks!

your hospital will start your baby out on the formula they use. i called our hospital and asked if they were still using Similac and they said yes, so that's the brand we're going to stick with at first, and then we'll switch to either target or bj's brand later on. but i've been signed up to the similac website and mailing list, so they've been sending checks and samples of the formula. i also signed up for enfamil and goodstart because there's a swap board on here, that i can swap those samples and checks for similac.

Our hospital uses both Enfamil and Similac. They give you the choice of which you would like to use. I kinda wish they just said this is it...takes all the guesswork out of it!
I signed up for the Similac site too and I haven't received ANYTHING from them! WTH?

oh, i see! well similac and enfamil are really the same kind of milk based formula, so really it doesn't matter as long as your baby can tolerate it. and all baby formula sold in stores have to meet to FDA requirements, so even though the store brand is a lot cheaper, it's still has all of the nutrients that are required by law.
don't forget to sign up your family members and friends too. that's just more checks and samples for you. and sign up to more than just one formula mailing list. lots of luck in your choice!
I hope to breastfeed, but if I need to supplement or formula feed I will probably go with the Target brand. it's the same stuff, but cheaper.
And you get a discount huh?
aww yeah!! plus everything I've read and heard from friends says it's more important to keep the same formula, whatever it is (so long as it's working for baby, obviously), than to switch back and forth. and me being cheap if I was trying to decide between the name brands it'd be hard for me to buy similac, for example, if one of the other brands were cheaper..

Gotcha. See my sister has WIC for her and her baby and even though she's trying to BF she told them she is using formula because really, she still is for half of Emma's feedings... what she doesn't use, she will probably give to us that way if we have to supplement we have some there.

I voted SS. With DS, we used Similac. This time around, I plan on using Parent's Choice (Walmart brand). Its about 50% cheaper than Similac and with two in diapers and daycare, I really can't justify paying Similac or Enfamil prices.

DD#2 lost in January 2012 at 23 weeks due to anhydramnios caused by a placental abruption
See, when we visited my mum when DS was 7 months (and we were supplementing BFing wtih formula), we used Earth's Best. We used an organic formula here, and I like using that. I have no idea what difference it makes though... But I was a SS.
With DS we tried enfamil and similac and good start. He had serious issues and it turned out he had a milk protein allergy, which led us to nutramigen. Before realizing that I studied the hell out of formulas. The main difference is palm olein oil you can read about it here:
If you start using one and it is not working out don't stress about switching. Its not that big of a deal. Some bumpies will tell you to do a slow mix transition but my pedi said it is not necessary. Just switch.

If we need to supplement we'll be going straight to Parent's Choice Walmart brand which I ended up switching to with my DD after I ran out of Similac checks. I'm still creeped out from the Similac recall with the bug issue personally!

Ok you read my mind! When I was on vacation in FL we went to a Childrens Expo (great thing! if theres ever one by any of ya'll u have to go!!) all the companies were there and I got confused. they all had a good argument with there nutrition and etc - I used enfamil with my first and similiac with my second i was planning on using similiac again but the Gerber Good Start got me thinking. They say it is made with 100% whey protein which helps with so many things- like digestion and spit ups etc. Idk is it a good formula? I mean it use to be carnation right- now its Gerber does that mean its good? Im sooo confused! I asked my OB and she had no idea she said to ask the pediatrician, I just dont know what to do!

I think we settled on Similac, mainly because of the olean (sp?). I have a hard time with it, so I'm afraid LO will as well.
Thanks for all the replies everyone; it was definitely helpful!
