Pain concentrated on one side of abdomen?

Having random pains today but I don't think they're contractions because they're focused on the left side of my belly....fleeting, not crippling, but new to me for sure. Perhaps just baby moving around at a weird angle?

For what it's worth, I don't think I've had a *real* contraction yet, but I'm assuming I'd feel that kind of pain across my whole midsection - right?

Re: Pain concentrated on one side of abdomen?

  • Last week, I was getting like a pressure pain on one centralized point.  It felt like someone was poking me with one finger and applying pressure.  I did notice it would come and go, like a pattern.  I thought they might have been contractions, but I've always thought they were felt along your whole midsection.  I asked my doc and she said it could have been contractions, could have been LO moving.  She wasn't concerned since I haven't felt it since.  Just keep an eye on it.  :)

  • Where exactly is the pain? Is it round ligament pain? Is it centralized in one small area or like the whole left side? Could just be baby. Yes I think a contraction would be across your whole midsection (could be wrong- everyone is different). I have a ton of strong braxton hicks and they are sometime more intense on one side, though.

  • I don't think it's round ligament pain....but it's not the whole left side. I'll keep watching it. I have a doc appointment Monday, too, so we'll see what she says!
  • Well aches and pains are normal, so don't sweat it and use it as an excuse to put your feet up!

  • Practice contractions or early labour pains CAN occur on only one side of the uterus. Oxytocin receptors might be more developed on one side than the other.

  • I've been having a lot of pain on my right side in the middle of my torso whenever the baby is balled up over there. My grandma who is a retired nurse said that the baby is probably pressing on my liver. Maybe the baby is just squishing an organ on your left side.
