Another "I know its way too early" thing. But is anyone else already researching baby gear like car seats, strollers, play pens, etc.? I'll even take a leap and ask if any of you already have things picked out like me? haha
we are reusing everything except DD's crib since she has destroyed it all with her teeth (she shreds the wood off and i have since covered majority of the rungs with fleece tightly). so i am looking at cribs now. and toddler beds.
I bought everything I needed at a consignment sale a few weeks ago!haha Talk about over prepared. It's an awesome sale and I couldn't pass it up.
The only thing we need is a new car seat. The one we had for dd when she was an infant is going to be expired before baby comes, so we are buying new this time!
Yes, totally! I've already started an online registry (myregistry.com)- it has a universal registry option, so I can add items from any website. But at this point it's more of a running list just for me of things I like at the moment. I'm sure it will change several times over before I'm actually ready to share it with anyone.

Ditto PPs, but I think I'm going to talk DH into getting a new car seat. The one we have we used for our almost 4 year old. We may look into another crib, I just don't think DD2 will be ready for a big girl bed just yet.
I know the feeling I have been to Babies R' Us, Target, Kmart, and Wal-mart comparing car seat, furniture collections, and other gear. I want to make sure I get the best stuff for my buck and I'm gonna use all the time I have to do so. I won't be finiding out the gender till December but I still want to be prepared when the buying time comes along.
The only thing we should need to buy right away are newborn diapers (we do cloth, but didn't start until DS was 12 months old). I'd also like to get an ergo carrier, but we have a moby that will suffice for a while.
Ah, yes, I guess we also need a crib, but we plan to keep #2 in a pnp in our room for a while so we're not going to worry about that until #2 is here. I want to make sure DS isn't going to start climbing out of his crib before we buy another.
I am getting an Inglesina pram, a BOB Revolution running stroller and a smaller McClaren stroller.
I haven't researched anything else.
Did you actually find a dealer in the US that can get an Inglesina pram stroller? I have been looking at all their stuff and (sadly) half the stuff shown on their website, is not available in the states.

Yes! Check www.babybungalow.com. However, thoose may be last years' models. I just want a classic pram so I'm not too picky.

I so wish I could validate the cost of a pram because I absolutely adore them. The BOB Revolution on the other hand, is on the top of our list since DH and I both love to run. I really do wish that joggers weren't so bulky and hard to transport because it would be so nice to have only one stroller rather than 2. But oh well!
I will need another crib. This time I'm probably going cheap and getting the Ikea one (Leksvik??) that gets good ratings.
Not planning on a triple stroller, but will wear baby while I push DDs in double. So, might like a new baby carrier... the Bjorn is OK, but I want another option. Also need a single stroller for when DH and I are together, so one of us will push the double and the other can push the single.
Got rid of swing and bouncy so will get those again.
I have an amazing friend who gave us her baby's stuff, since she was done with them. We already have carseats/bases, strollers, bouncy, boppies, bumbo, swing, jumperoo, breast pump, bottles, etc. Incredible! Our nursery is so full, already.
We still need crib and furniture and all the other baby stuff. I'm pretty sure I already know what furniture I want, though, incl the crib.

The only thing that I know for sure that I want is a mountain buggy stroller. I want the urban jungle one. Where we live we have cobble stone streets and we walk everywhere. Also my best friend has this one for her DS and we loved it when she visited us.
I don't need a car seat since we don't have a car. So at least I don't have to worry about that.
Right now I'm pretty set on the bumbleride indie stroller, but because its pricey, I might have to settle for a cheaper carseat (ie. graco snugride instead of peg perago)... other than that we've only looked a tiny bit. I figure we won't be working on a nursery until Feb/March... I've really been wanting to wait until 12 weeks to really pick solid things out.

I'm mainly getting the pram for sentimental reasons. I had one as a baby and played with it as a child. I was very much looking forward to using the same one with my baby, but my parents somehow "lost" it in the divorce and moves (they also "lost" the cradle I slept in as a baby, which my mother had slept in, too). So I'm getting something special that can kind of be an heirloom.
We have to get the BOB because we are both runners. Even on a walk through the park trail, I can't imagine taking a regular stroller or pram. The Maclaren is to keep in my car for mall trips and such.
I'm also opting for a basinnet (can be a keepsake too, if I get a nice enough one) rather than a Pack & Play. My parents and ILs already have P&Ps from prior grandchildren, and if we travel anywhere to a hotel I doubt we would carry on a P&P anyway. Plus I just think a basinnet looks better with my living room decor.

I would check on the carseat and base. I have heard that they "expire" date-wise and that you aren't supposed to use them for multiple children, each baby is supposed to get its own new one. Silly, I think, but I think it has something to do with safety warrantys.

I've been checking out strollers, furniture, bassinets, swings, everything lol. I haven't done a registry or anything yet but I keep wishlists on websites so I can remember the things I liked last time I looked.
I plan on going to BRU to check out some stuff and we'll probably start a registry in January. I already have a stroller picked out but that's because we have limited options, both DH and I being tall. We need a stroller with a height adjustable handle and we want a travel system. We'll probably go with the Graco Alano Flip-It but I want to see it in person to make sure I like it.
I am the first to have a baby in my family, neither my sister or cousins have any LOs yet. So there isn't really anything in the way of hand me downs in my family, which means DH and I will be buying everything or hopefully getting some items as gifts. We hope to get gender neutral things for the large items though so we can use them for future LOs.
Re: Baby Gear
We're reusing everything, but if you ever have questions about 'stuff', I'm happy to help.
I'd def. recommend picking up a copy of Baby Bargains eventually--it really helped us make our decisions, and honestly, we don't regret any of them!
