Methods of gender determination that are old wives' tales (or otherwise fake):
Everything else. I don't care if it worked for your best friend. All of these things have an approximately 50% chance of being correct.

But You just don't understand, My Husbands great Aunt has never gotten one wrong with her " pencil" test .....
She Just doesn't understand why i won't let her anywhere near me...
but the chinese gender calender worked for my best friends husbands step dad on all of his kids and his nieces and nephews...
i don't understand what the problem is.
