Babies: 9 - 12 Months

When are you "that" mom...

and kinda freak about things you know are not a big deal?

For me, I hate when DD and I go visiting and who ever we visit has dogs and DD gets dog hair on her hands and mouth.  I have to really refrain from wiping her hands every.five.seconds even though I know she is fine.

Also, when she shows signs of being tired I try to get her home (or in a quiet place) and into bed as soon as I can and I know this annoys people.  But she is a great sleeper, I hope because I have really followed her cues.

I also refuse to let her go anywhere in jammies.  I always have to dress her.

I also am really picky about what she eats, no sweets and stuff.

  • My lo is never dressed in either! I am so anal about that! He is pretty much always dressed like a little man. I figure I should have control over his wardrobe while I can!

I'm THAT mom. I don't wear jammies in public, why would he. Even when he was a NB I would dress him in normal clothes. Jammies are for sleep

  • i know what you mean.  I never thought i would be "that" mom.. i'm such a freak now b/c of his allergies. I see how other moms roll their eyes at me all the time and at this point i dont care anymore.  He is allergic to so many things.  So when we're at a party (which is rare due to this) i dont let my son get near anything or anyone. Kids always want to play with him and i kindly say no.. the parents look at me like i'm crazy and always roll their eyes.

i had one kid touch him and his face swelled up.. so i learned my lesson. But i feel like i'm that mom.. that over protective crazy freak of nature.  But if i'm not, my kid will end up in the ER b/c someone touched him that just had an egg sandwich or peanut butter sandwich.

We had a baptism last weekend and i held him most of the time but he still had an allergic reaction. I know my nephews played with him so i'm assuming it's from them, but who knows.

I feel like I am always "that" mom.  Tomorrow we have a birthday party to go to and I am already dreading DD playing with the other kids as most of them are or have been sick.  Everything you described in your post is exactly how I feel too :)

LOL.. my kid is in his PJ for the first half of the day.  I should dress him up more.

Man, that is tough!  I would be the SAME way in your situation.

Btw, I loved watching Aiden's video on SPN :) So cute!  Made me smile.

IMO, this doesn't really qualify you for being "that mom". Sure, people that might think you are, but you're trying to keep your son safe. Not the same at all.

  • I am definitely not that mom but I certainly don't roll my eyes at friends who are.  I have a couple but not too many.  In fact, my friend who came over for a play date yesterday is that mom.  I am always surprised when she comes over cuzz there's no avoiding all the dog hair at my place.

Are you kidding me! I love to nap when lo naps!!
  • 1. I'm actually a little pissed because my SIL told me the other day that she's surprised that I'm not "that" mom.  Apparently because I wash my hands after I use the bathroom and take a daily shower, I'm uptight!

    2. When DH was off for the summer and in SAHD mode, he dressed DS in jammies thinking they were a normal outfit and took him around to do errands.  I still give him a hard time.  I guess hanging them up with the other jammies at the end of the closet was not enough of a hint that they too were jammies!

thanks ;)  i still have to go through all of them.  they are all so cute. nothing better than watching babies giggle

  • Im "that" mom about nutrition.  Although I don't freak out if someone gives Kai a taste of frosting or a bit of a cookie, I really try to make sure 99% of what he eats is healthy and organic.

I have ADHD and a lot of research is pointing to food additives triggering it, so I wanna give him a fighting chance if I can.

I guess we all have our reasons behind being "that" mom, huh?

  • I am paranoid that MIL or someone else in DH's family will give Ryan eggs (we haven't been okay'd yet) or bananas (he's allergic) when I'm not there, and they won't know what to do or what to look for. So I constantly remind DH that he can't have those things.

I also really don't care if he wears shoes. He always has on socks, but he hates shoes and always kicks them off when we're out in public. If he kicks them off twice, we're done with the shoes for the day. He doesn't walk anyways. This drives my mom crazy!

My mom has the same issue! She is always asking me why LO doesn't have shoes on. Because as soon as we get in the car they are pulled off..that's why!
