1st Pair of Maternity Jeans

Oh my word- maternity jeans are the best EVER!!! They are so comfy, how did I not know this before?? I bought my first pair today at Kohls. :) Honestly, I don't know why all jeans aren't made with that stretchy band at the top- I don't think I'm going to want to go back to real jeans again!

Oh and FYI- I bought skinny maternity jeans, and I think they look pretty good! :)

Re: 1st Pair of Maternity Jeans

  • I bought my first pair yesterday (Kohls too!) and I splurged and wore them today. I can still button my regular pants, but its so nice not having that big metal button poking me in the belly all day.

  • Ok, I have a question. I bought maternity jeans. I tried on my pre-pregancy size and they fit perfectly.  Then the lady had me try on one size bigger and recommended I take those as I will likely grow in my hips and butt too. So, I got them home (the bigger ones) and tried to wear them and they almost fall off me, they are way too big. I am going to return them today and wait until I have more bump to figure out what size.

Finally getting to my question - what size did you buy? Did you leave room for butt/hip growth?

  • I've been wearing mine since 10 weeks.  Not because I need them, just because I love them!

I bought mine from Motherhood and they have Small, medium type sizes instead of numerical sizes. I'm a size 16 and XL in shirts so I tried the XL in jeans. It worked well. The elastic belly is tight enough to keep them up and they are a touch baggy in the hips. I was told by the woman that it would be fine.

I would return them and get what works for you now. If you need to you can get different size later.

I am a medium girl top to bottom. I typically wear a size 8 pant. I got 2 pair at Motherhood in August, both in Medium (different brands, not the MM label). Both fit a little loose in the rear and thighs, one so much so that they fall a lot when I sit. But they are made to stretch, so if they feel good now, they probably won't be too small later. Yes, some women gain all over, but there is a reason every label says "buy your PREPREGNANCY size".

  • I proudly admit that I've been wearing maternity jeans for a year now.  Once I discovered the comfort found only by wearing pants with an elastic waist in public, I couldn't go back.  Casual Friday took on a whole new meaning for me....

I almost peed myself. This is hilarious LOL!!

I'm going to go against the grain and gripe about maternity pants. Only because I'm so used to my pants fitting tight around the butt & thighs. I have doubts my butt will grow too much because my boobs have not grown a centimeter. BUT the band on those maternity pants = heaven. I love no bulky belt loops and buttons and zippers. I just can't wait until they actually start fitting better. I own two pairs of cordoroys - one from Motherhood Maternity and the other from Kohls. I like the Kohls pair better just because they are longer in the leg, MM is kinda long in the crotch.

Kohls maternity pants are S,M,L, etc. and the label said my size (8) was a medium, so that's what I bought. When I went to Motherhood for the first time last week (I just bought a dress), the girl told me to buy my pre-pregnancy size- so that's what I did. They are pretty stretchy jeans, so I think even if I did gain a bit of weight in other areas, they would be okay. HTH! :)

I bought 3 pairs from Kohls.  I am a size 8-10 pre-pregnancy.  I bought one pair of medium which fit great now.  The other two pairs are larges and are just a bit bigger in the butt and thighs because I figure I will gain everywhere.  I'm not really showing yet, but have been wearing the medium pair....they are way comfy!

  • I just bought a pair of skinny maternity jeans from Gap and LOVE them. They are so comfy and they don't look huge on me but still think their is room to grow. I bought them in my pre-pregnancy size 6 and they are perfect...plus they were on sale for $17...can't beat that!
  • I bought a great pair of maternity jeans at Kohl's today too! They are just the greatest.
