Would I be a bad mom if......

in 3rd Trimester

I hung this over DD's crib?  I found it on Etsy and want to make it but DH is worried the beads would fall into her crib and she would choke on them.  I am on the fence.  I think I could make it to where it wouldn't, but am I just being a bad mom by thinking it couldn't happen?

    I would just make it without the beads.

    well, I think you would need something there for weight.  Otherwise the fan would have the butterflies all twisted.

    Maybe if you just left the bottom bead off of each string... You know, so the butterfly is the last thing hanging. That way they kind of "block" the beads from falling. If that makes any sense at all.

    Could you maybe put it off to the side?  I am weird like that too where I would be thinking the beads would fall and DD would choke on them.

    Remember that eventually she will stand up in her crib and pull at it if it is low enough so she will tear the thing apart if it is low enough.

    It's really cute!  The other thing my niece loves is a mobile over her changing table.  It's her favorite place to hang out.  Obviously you'd never leave her on the changing table unsupervised so you wouldn't have to worry about her getting ahold of it.

    This is what I was going to suggest too.  My DD needs stimulation on the changing table, esp once she started rolling over, so I think above the changing table would be great.

    I made a mobile with beads.  I used crimp beads to stop the beads at the end and put double on every stand.  Once baby is a little older I will just take it down but I think if it is secure enough to just hang there it should be fine.

    I think you could knot it under each bead or put a dot of glue gun under each bead so theyre guaranteed not to fall off. There are ways to make it safe. Just make sure it cant be reached when she starts pulling herself up. :)
