TTC After a Loss

Two questions, one is Beauty & The Beast related, one is TTCALR

1:  If everything in the house that is used is actually a person, is there nothing left to use when the spell is broken?

2: I've always gotten severe canker sores that I'm told is in my genes. Is there a chance this could be linked to my losses?

For example: I have 5 right now. One is a large ulcer that makes my jaw hurt  the other four are just stingy pain and slightly indented.

EDIT: I know the connection is probably a very big stretch, but I thought of it today and can't get it out of my head.

  • 1. I never thought about that before!!! Good observation.

    2. I have no clue. This would be a good question for your doctor.

  • answer to question #1 i would imagine they would have to go on a shopping spree

#2- i have thought the same thing- last spring when i was KU, i got a horrific cold sore on my upper lip- it spread and i ended up with three or four on my cheek just to the side of my mouth with some pain that extended up my cheek to my ear on the same side- when i found out of my loss- which was a missed m/c- and corrected the dates- the same week i had that was the week our LO died- im now partially convinced i had shingles and thats what caused the m/c. but then again i am desperate for a reason and that one seems good to me-

  • 1. I don't think EVERYTHING is a person, is it? I mean, that'd be a LOT of people for all those plates and forks and spoons and knives etc etc etc haha

    2. I used to get bad canker sores, so did my DH actually, until one day I read in a magazine that a ton of toothpastes have the ingredient Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, and that can cause cankers. So, I said.. what the hell, and we switched to a toothpaste without that ingredient (hard to find, for us, one of the sensodyne's works, but you gotta check the label) and honestly, we RARELY ever get cankers now. It's been amazing! I will never go back to our old toothpaste again

  • I don't know about # 2 (certainly ask your Dr. I think everything in our bodies is related somehow).

#1 I'd say that maybe they get turned into furniture that is already there...then when the spell is over, they get transformed back into their old selves and the furniture reverts.

  • 1. I would bet that there would have to be stuff somewhere, what did all the people use before they got turned into household items.

    2. Here is what I found on Dr. Google about canker sores.

    What causes canker sores?

The cause of canker sores is not well understood. More than one cause is likely, even for individual patients. Canker sores do not appear to be caused by viruses or bacteria, although an allergy to a type of bacterium commonly found in the mouth may trigger them in some people. The sores may be an allergic reaction to certain foods. In addition, there is research suggesting that canker sores may be caused by a faulty immune system that uses the body's defenses against disease to attack and destroy the normal cells of the mouth or tongue.

British studies show that, in about 20 percent of patients, canker sores are due partly to nutritional deficiencies, especially lack of vitamin B12, folic acid and iron. Similar studies performed in the United States, however, have not confirmed this finding. In a small percentage of patients, canker sores occur with gastrointestinal problems, such as an inability to digest certain cereals. In these patients, canker sores appear to be part of a generalized disorder of the digestive tract.

Female sex hormones apparently play a role in causing canker sores. Many women have bouts of the sores only during certain phases of their menstrual cycles. Most women experience improvement or remission of their canker sores during pregnancy. Researchers have used hormone therapy successfully in clinical studies to treat some women.

Both emotional stress and injury to the mouth can trigger outbreaks of canker sores, but these factors probably do not cause the disorder.

From that I would think they were maybe both symptoms of something else, but it wasn't the genetics that made you susceptible to canker sores causing your miscarriage. Like if you had something that made you unable to absorb folic acid that could have an effect on pregnancy and make it more likely for you to get canker sores.

  • 1.  Hmmm, interesting question.  I think Disney just hopes we are all too dumb to think too much about it.  ;)

    2.  I used to get severe canker sores as well.  Then, when I was about 17 years old, I found out I had a duodenal ulcer.  Doctors gave me zantac, which, at the time, was only available by prescription (you can now buy it OTC).  I had ulcers on and off for several years, when they flared up, I would find the canker sores would return.  Took Zantac for awhile, and they would go away (as would the stomach ulcer).  Now it has been years since I had an ulcer, and the only time I get canker sores is if my toothbrush slips and I cut my mouth.  I do not take zantac anymore either...
