Babies: 3 - 6 Months

NBR-Neighbors pregnancy ended

Last night when I was outside hanging out in my backyard my neighbor came outside and peeked her head over the fence.  She looked like s&#t.  I asked her what was going on and she informed me that she lost the baby.  She was 19 weeks pregnant.  She has a 2 1/2 year old with special needs.  All I could do was tell her how sorry I was and offer to help with her son/dogs/house.  Is their anything else I should do?  Would making a meal and taking over a card be acceptable?  I haven't had to deal with this sort of thing before.  TIA

  • I think taking a meal over there would be very nice.

  • Making a meal definitely sounds acceptable.  Especially since if I were in that situation, the last thing I'd want to do is cook.

    T&P for your neighbor.

  • thats just awful. i think all of your suggestions are great and would be appreciated.

  • A meal definitely would be appreciated. I dont know how close you are with them, but maybe offer to pick up their grocery for them? T&P for them, that is so horrible.

  • Yes a meal.....or offer to have her 2 yr old DS come over and play for a while or take him to McD's playland or something.

  • I'm so sorry for her loss. I think a meal and card would be lovely. I'd also let her know you're there for her to talk to and support her in her grief. When I lost my best friend several years ago hands down the best thing anyone did for me was let me talk to them.
  • I think a meal is great -- maybe baked ziti or some sort of big dish like that. Or, go to the grocery store and pick up some things like breakfast items (crossants), tea, and snacks.
