Just weaned off the breast

Just had to share.

We are on our 3rd day of no more breastfeeding. :( I was only nursing him to sleep at night, and he was getting regular milk the rest of the time. Now, now more milk at all. I was, in a way looking forward to it. But I'm really sad now that we're done. 456 days of breastfeeding. Now it's over and I kind of regret it. He doesn't miss it. But I do. Not to mention that I'm still dealing with my milk drying up.

    Just wanted to say what a great job you did to make it for so long!  I hope we can make it that far too.  I am sure it must be so hard....I get sad thinking about weaning someday.  I guess it has too come to an end sometime....sometimes it is sad that they have to grow up.  You are an amazing mama to have made it so far.

    I am in the same boat! Day 3 for me as well, and my boobs hurt so bad. (Maybe TMI, but I figured you understand!) I have a little bit of a guilt feeling too. But be proud that you were able to make it so long! I could only do it a year. You did an amazing thing!

    thank you both. i'm lucky so far on the engorgement in that we had already weaned down to only 1 feeding a day (when i put him to sleep). i was actually only producing on one boob (ha). but that one is sore. it's been 5 days now and i'm still waiting for it to get better. i thought it would be by now. aargh. a big part of me thinks it would have easier to just keep going. no heating milk. no buying milk. DS still hasn't asked for the boob. just shows he was done. little guy is growing up.
