We will be getting hand me downs from two couples, with some of the stuff being duplicates from one's baby shower. We are moving across the country in May and even though we'll have to store it all it will still be nice to save all the $$$. We'll be going this weekend to see what is all available to us!
Re: Totally scoring with the big baby gear
Where are you moving to? Isn't Alaska the dream? I mean, I've been aiming to end up in Montana or Alaska, but I'm in Eastern Oregon, which is pretty close in a lot of ways :-)
The people at Fireside Books in Palmer seem awesome. They sell my book and email and keep in touch just because they're super nice.

Thanks guys! Hopefully if all goes well we will have little to purchase. Maybe I CAN buy that $300+ bedset that I fell in love with.
Shaindel, I grew up in southeast Alaska, so I'm very much a small town girl at heart. Married into the Army, who is sending us to Kentucky. We will be only 5 hours away from his family and overall travel anywhere will be so much easier from there. It'll be a bit of a culture shock for me for sure. I had a 9 hour layover in Portland last year and was able to visit friends--LOVED that town, and can't wait to go again one day. What is the name of your book? I'll have to look for it the next time I'm out there.
Score!
And wait. You're moving to Kentucky? We're going to be neighbors! I'm in TN.
Claire,
Thanks so much for your reply. I'm in Eastern Oregon, so I'm 3 hours from Portland. Where I am is more "Idaho-feeling" than Portland :-) It's mostly ranches and Indian reservation.
Here's my author site: https://shaindelbeers.com (you can even order my book there, if you want).
And here's my baby blog: https://babybeers.wordpress.com
Enjoy Kentucky! I'm originally from Indiana, and Kentucky's not all that different. I'll be sending you positive thoughts in May so you can have a safe and non-stressful move!
Hugs!

I'm in Oregon too! Portland area, but we go to Eastern Oregon a few times a year to camp!
Sarahbeth,
If you want, we could exchange email addresses. If you'll be out this way, maybe we could get together :-)
