My ds is 6.5 months old. He can sit up but not for long periods of time. He just topples over. Some of my friends' children were sitting up no problem at this age. Anyone else's little one having trouble?
I don't even think Alex sat at all at that age. He didn't master sitting for longer time until he was 8-8.5 months old. Give it time, he'll do it when he is ready. Your DS is still pretty young. I spent a lot of time with Alex between my legs for support and that seemed to help him learn to sit.
Hey! I did recognize you as well. I can't believe your DS is already 6.5 months already. Do you still go on the SAL board? I don't go on there too much since I don't recognize anyone and I can never seem to find the SAL mom check ins.
I do a lot of comparing too, sometimes it's hard not too.
DD isn't sitting up much yet either, I don't think she's having trouble, I don't think we are doing anything wrong, she's just not ready. She'll sit on our lap unassisted for a short period of time and then will topple over. I think she just gets distracted and forgets to sit. She'll be sitting up just fine when she's ready.
My friend had this issue with her son too. She used the bumbo a lot to help him sit up so he could get used to it. It seemed to help a lot and he was sitting on his own in no time. It's just that their muscles still need to get a bit stronger- nothing to worry about though!
3 IUI's and 2 IVF's later- Brady arrived. Born at 36 weeks after PUPPS and pre-e/HELLP.
IUI- BFN IVF #1 -BFP! Allie is our 2nd IVF baby. Born at 36 1/2 weeks after pre-e again
DD is just starting to sit up better on her own, although she leans forward a lot. She is testing her balance though. Her corrected age is 7.5 months. She hated tummy time, still kinda does if she has a full belly. Once she started doing better with tummy time and outstretching her arms, I'm sure she started to develop those head/neck muscles and she started to reach other milestones.....it will happen in his time, try not to worry, esp if he is progressing! HTH!

DS didn't sit on his own until the past couple of weeks. I wouldn't call it an "issue" like the pp said, though. Babies go at their own rate and as hard as it is, you can't really compare DS to other babies. He'll get it when he's ready!
