2under2 Moms - routine help please!

When it was just ds#1 we had a great routine from very early on.  Now that I have 2 boys it is difficult to get #2 on any type of schedule, even a basic routine that is consistent.  It's hard to get the baby to go to sleep for naps and if he does chances are DS#1 will wake him long before he is ready to get up.  I would love to get them to bed around the same time but how do you get them both bathed, pjs on and in bed when you are doing it alone? DH works late alot.  I think DS#2 needs an earlier bedtime but I can't seem to get our toddler to wind down enough after dinner so I can put the baby down.  I am still nursing and it is prooving more and more difficult everyday with having to rip the poor baby off to run to the potty with our toddler, get him out of trouble etc.

Help!  I would love to see how other Mom's manage 2 sweet but spirited kids.

TIA :)

  • I am just finally getting some sort of routine down. DS#2 naps in his room once in the morning, he naps at the same time as DS#2 in the afternoon, and then once again in his room around 4 or 5. I put DS#1 in his gated in playroom while I am getting DS#2 down. At night we eat dinner (the kids and I because DH works) and while Luke is still in his booster chair I bathe Sawyer in the sink. Ds#2 goes to bed at 7 (while Luke is in his playroom) and Luke goes to bed at 8. After Sawyer is in bed Luke and I have an hour of time together where we watch a little Elmo and he gets his bath. HTH because it was kind of jumbled.

That does help, thank you.  I need to find a safe place for ds#1 to play while I am putting the baby down.  Do you miss having dinner with dh? It's something that still bothers me...and when does your dh spend time with the kids? (if you don't mind sharing)  If I put the baby to bed when I think he is ready dh will never see him :(

Our oldest is Luke(Lukas) as well ;)
