Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Formula Help Needed

My LO is about 3 months old and has only had breastmilk.  This past week we tried him on Simlac Advance and Emfamil Premium (ready to drink).  He would not take either even when mixed with breastmilk (2 oz F and 4 oz BM).

Any suggestions?  Maybe a different formula to try?

We waited until he was hungry, but not too hungry.  I tried, DH and my mom, but not luck.

Thanks.

Re: Formula Help Needed

  • yeah maybe try a diff formula. i know my lo didnt like the ready mixed stuff but was fine with the powder. and shes definitely shown preference in one brand over another. maybe even try less bm and more formula in a bottle.

its all trial and error (i know that doesnt help much!)

  • I bf DD until about 2 weeks ago. I still bf in the morning but usually only once or twice per day. I had to introduce formula and was told that alot of babies do good on Nestle Good Start so I bought some the other day and have been mixing it with my bm that I pump so I give her 1/2 bm and 1/2 formula and so far so good!  Oh and I found that Enfamil A+ made her VERY gassy so I didnt want to use that one.

    Good Luck!

  • switching from BM to formula is hard. I would try a different formula or just choose one and keep trying. That's what we had to do with LO. It's a nightmare ride some days, but t will get better! GL
  • I'm in the process of slowly introducing formula to my DD and at first she wouldn't take it. But what I find helped was using a faster flow nipple. I use the Avent bottles, and the #1 she wouldn't take it from, but so far has taken a few bottles with #2.
  • Hmm...well I am not personally sure, but here are some formula-related information that I highly recommend you check out..hope it helps!
