2nd Trimester

Alright!!! THAT IS IT!!!!

I'm off to TRY and find a new OB.

Mine is really starting to bother me. He never explains anything and when I do ask for an explanation he is very short with me!

My last post about the flu shot has set me off. ARG!

I want my old OB back she was the best but we had to move many states away. :(

~Wish me luck in finding a new OB so late in the game~

Re: Alright!!! THAT IS IT!!!!

  • My clinic has OB's and Midwives. I saw an OB for my first appointment and wasn't impressed. A friend suggested seenig one of the midwives and I absolutely LOVE HER! She doesn't care about sitting with me an extra 30 mintues after my appointment to go over any questions or just to talk about how I'm feeling and if there is anything I want to talk about. She's also very good at making sure my husband feels included in all the appointments. She asks him questions or gives him suggestions on what he can do to help with anything.

That's just my experience, it's something you could look into. And some people think that if you see a midwife you don't get ultra sounds and you have your baby at home, but that's simply not true. I take all the same tests and the same ultra sounds and I'm having my baby in a hospital.

  • It's definitely not too late - I'm about to switch also.  I went on a tour of a birth center (an independent center run by midwives not associated with a hospital) and loved it!  The midwife said that typical appts are 20 mins b/c they explain everything and let you ask questions.  So much better than my 5 min drive-by appts with my current OB - well 5 min w/ the doc, plus 40min in the waiting room and another 5 w/ the nurse for bp and urine test.  So annoying!  I can't wait to start seeing the midwives.  Good luck with your search!!

Same here.  I just switched.  I actually liked my OB but there are still some big differences.  My first MW appt lasted more than an hour.  She checked EVERYTHING - very thorough.  She also noticed that my iron was pretty low (at the very bottom of the normal range) and that was in the lab work sent by my OB's office.  He just never mentioned it.  I really like the birthing center so far!
