My poor baby keeps waking up full of snot...I've been sitting in the rocking chair with him sleeping on my chest (which I'm fully ready to do all night if that's what he needs).
Does anyone have any tips/tricks to help clear him up or help him sleep? Is there a way to slightly prop up one end of the crib mattress?
We have a humidifier but I never know where in the room to place it, will the humidity wreck the wooden furniture if it's on too high, do I keep the door slightly open?

Re: Sleeping Tips for Congested Baby?
the humidifier is the best!!
Also before I had a crib wedge I took a bunch of blankets and a thick book put it under the crib sheet (between mattress and crib sheet) and made a wedge since you can't just raise the mattress. I was told by the ped to just use books but it didn't sound very comfortable.

Also right before bedtime I turn the shower on really hot get the room really steamy and give her the bottle in the steamy bathroom.
You can also buy little noses saline.
We did this last night and it worked perfect! She fell asleep in my arms
My LO just got over having a sinus infection. Here's what I did for her:
-use saline drops and nasal aspirator every time you see boogers
- run the humidifer every time she slept (naps and bedtime)
-I bought a Vicks Vaporizer and used that the past few nights in addition to the humidifier. It will make LO's room smell like vaporub and it really helps them breathe easily at night.
-run a hot shower and stood with her in the steam filled bathroom before bedtime
HTH!
We have been dealing with this for 2 weeks. I have had him sleep in the Nap Nanny on the bed with me for a week. He had gotten a little better so we put him back in his crib last night. He got a good 4 hours of sleep in the beginning but then was clogged again so we did the nasal aspirator. After we got some snot out he slept pretty well for another 4 hours in his crib.
He hates the aspirator though so I have to wake my husband up to come hold his arms down while I hold the baby's head. It's so sad to hear him screaming but it's worse hearing him choke on all the phlegm and be woken up coughing. The snot never gets thin enough to just run down his throat even though we have been running the humidifier. One night we didn't run it, thinking the snot would at least stay still for the evening so he could sleep. That worked and he coughed only a couple of times. But the next day when he sneezed a little streak of blood came out so we think he got too dry. So back to the humidifier. Right now he is laying face down, letting the snot pool in his face but that's better than running down his throat to cause coughing fits I guess.
I don't know the best solution but tonight I told my husband we need to take the baby out of daycare. The first week there he got sick from other babies and he is just miserable. The nanny we had is much more expensive so I guess I am just going to have to take care of a newborn and a 1 year old when she is born in January if we take him out of daycare. Other infants handle daycare just fine but he has asthma and it's just too hard on him when he gets a cold.
I have DD's head elevated using a regular pillow in her crib. We also have a cool mist humidifier running all night. It's located close to her crib right by her foot. The mist is blowing towards her (not directly at her). I keep the door closed to keep the humidity in the room. I also have a fan in the bedroom running on low and pointed up to the ceiling just to get some air circulation.
