Re: Twin pregnancy book recommendations?

  • dr. luke's book on being pg with twins, triplets and quads - read it ASAP - has the best info on having a safe and long twin pg. most of us on here follow it - but not the diet per say - just the weight gain rec's and eating a ton of protein and dairy to gain fast... about 20lbs in 20 weeks, so if you have pre-term labor, they are as big as possible.

  • Ditto Dr. Luke's book. My MFM even told me to read it.

If you plan to BF, you must read "Mothering Multiples." I learned so much and was successful in BFing my twins b/c of this book. I even referenced it in the hospital.

  • Ready or Not, Here They Come is my favorite practical advice type book
  • I bought Dr. Lukes book after seeing the recommendations from the wonderful mommies on this board. I was really surprised about the diet and a few other things.  It is a great book.

  • Thanks for asking this question.  I was wondering too.

I noticed at Barnes and Noble online that the Dr. Luke book has a new edition being released November 30, 2010.   So I think I'm going to wait for and buy that edition.

I'll check at my library for the older (current) version to get me started until then.

Do your best to start reading the current version.  The info and suggestions start right away.  The diet rec's and everything for the 1st tri are really important.

  • I also read Dr. Luke's book. Just a warning, the beginning is REALLY basic stuff (like how you get pregnant). I felt that a lot of the first 20 pages was just about why you should follow the program and read the book, which wasn't that useful since everyone on here already said how great the book was and I was obviously already reading it. I'm in the middle of reading Mothering Multiples since I plan on breastfeeding as well. Lots of good information but I'm not crazy about how it is organized.

  • I couldn't find the Dr. Luke book at the store.  It seems most stores are out of stock, probably because the new book is coming out next month.

However, I did find taht Borders.com has the May 2009 version available as an E-Book download for $11.99.  So I ordered that and downloaded this morning.   Hope this helps someone else.
