Houston Babies

where does your baby sleep?

so E will only consistently sleep in his swing. the minute we put him in his crib he wakes up crying.

i'm thinking he likes the swing because it closes in around him more. now im thinking he might like a bassinet for awhile.

where does/did your newborn sleep? and are they in your room or in their own room?

thanks

Re: where does your baby sleep?

  • We let baby sleep wherever he would sleep!  lol.  For the first 8 weeks, we had in him a PNP by our bed, then we moved him to the crib.  In the beginning, though - if he fell asleep in his swing, he stayed there.  I even put him in his boucer a few nights b/c that is the only place he would sleep.

Are you swaddling?  That might help with the closed in feeling.

  • at that age, during the day we'd put here wherever she'd sleep. swing, bouncy chair, etc. we used the bassinet of the pnp until she started sttn because we put her in our room.

  • PNP in our room for now. We had the kind w/ the newborn napper, but didn't keep him in that for long due to newborn congestion. We ended up buying a changing table pad thingy (looks like a mattress w/sides) and put in in the bassinet part of the pnp. We were then able to raise the head of it. Once DS outgrew the pad for sleeping, we used the bassinet part which is the size of the pnp anyway, just suspended. After reaching the weight limit, he is now on the bottom with a 5 inch thick foam "mattress". Around his 1st bday, he will be going to his own room and his new queen sized bed. We just need to get the box spring and mattress first.

  • Now in her crib but at a week, where ever she would sleep! Usually it was in her swing or bouncer but sometimes on our chest while we watched TV. At night she was in the PNP in our room until she was 2 months old. Since then she's been in her crib.
  • I was convinced someone was going to break in and steal Avery, so she slept in a pack-n-play in our room.

Joseph slept in his crib.  He was a rather noisy sleeper.

he HATES being swaddled. he kicks and kicks and the screams

  • For the 1st few weeks, both my kids would only sleep on me or DH. After that wore off, Tru slept in a bassinet in our room until 3 mos and then ended up cosleeping b/c it was the only way he would sleep. Mathis has slept in his crib since about 8 weeks old, which was his preference.

  • she sleeps in the bouncy seat beside the bed or in the bed with us at night.

During the day, she's mostly sleeping in wrap or other baby carrier on me.

  • At night, in her crib in our room since day one. During the day, wherever she'd sleep! Usually on us, in the bouncer or her swing. We've only recently started putting her in the crib for her naps.If we hadn't had the space for her crib in our room, she'd have been in a cosleeper.

And even now, we sometimes have to get her to go to sleep on us. She was fussy tonight, so I had to get her to sleep on my chest before I could transfer her to the crib.

  • When he was a newborn, we let him sleep wherever he'd sleep.  It wasn't much in his crib until he got older, and we had figured out he needed to be on hypoallergenic formula.  That's when he started sleeping better in his crib.  Before that, he was in his swing, bouncer, someone's arms, sometimes in the bassinet, sometimes in the crib...  We did put him in his room early on, around 10 days old.  But, we would end up putting him in his bouncer or swing in the middle of the night when he would stop sleeping.  Whatever works!  Right now is survival mode.
After 2 years and 6 IUIs, we did it with IVF w/ ICSI!

Ditto Cajun.. only because she told me what to do! haha she sleeps wherever this child falls asleep and doesn't cry. Right now she is in the swing sleeping and loving it. At night we got a Fisher Price Rock and Play Sleeper and its a miracle. This child went from sleeping great in hre crib to not sleeping anywhere. I thinks he has reflux so she needs to sleep at an incline and this RNP did wonders! After only getting 2-3 hours of sleep a night I said screw it to the crib and we just let her sleep where she is happy. I really doubt she is going to be in her swing when she is 10.. but who knows Big Smile

  • Cason slept in the Pack n Play in our room for 2 weeks and has been in his crib upstairs since.

  • Reagan slept in the bouncy chair in our room for a few weeks with the vibration going all night long. We went through a lot of batteries. Then she would go between sleeping in the pnp in our room to just in bed with us. We moved her to her crib around 3 months I believe and DH at the time was feeding her a bottle at night.

Abby slept in bed with us and then we were slowly able to transition her to the pnp in our room. She was there for awhile since I nursed her at night. Once she stopped eating at night we moved her to the pnp.

  • I'm late on responding, but C slept in the PNP in his room for the first 2 weeks, and then in his crib.  The key for him was that he was swaddled tight and then we used a sleep wedge.
  • thanks everyone! we ended buying a pack n play (we need one for houston trips anyway) and  he has been sleeping in the newborn napper part fairly well in our room. i was trying to keep him out of our room but this way we all get some sleep!

i may try moving the pack n play to his room in a few weeks and then transition to his crib at some point in the next few months. i just hope it isn't too hard of a tranisition.
