Woombie...any experience??

DS HATES being swaddled! We did swaddle him the first couple of weeks of his life, but after that, it was a no-go.

Currently he sleeps in his swing and it's no problem. He feels safe and contained, and is free to move around. What can I say? He needs to be moving all the time...he's like his mom!

A friend of mine just called me to let me know she picked my little guy up a Woombie,w hich is basically a tight sleep sack (picture a baby in a sleeping bag)...

I"m curious to try it, as if he takes to it, it may make transitioning to his crib easier...does anyone have experience with a baby that didn't like to be swaddled, but took to this?

  • DD hated it because she could move her arms, but not get to them. It might work for your situation, but she got very frustrated and we went back to swaddling.

  • DD had to be swaddled because her hands would keep her awake all night - then a friend gave u the woombie - we used it for about 3 nights then tried with no swaddle and no woombie, and she did great! So, we don't use either now!

But, when we did use the woombie, she didn't seem to like it because she had no way of getting out! But, she would fight for about 5 minutes then pass out and sleep all night!

  • We have it and really like it.  DS always moves his hands up but now he can't flail and startle himself like he could if he wasn't swaddled.  We just bought the convertible woombie to transition from swaddling because he's rolling over.  It's also really easy to use with just the one zipper.
