The movie, Coraline. It?s along the lines of a nightmare before Christmas feel. Anyway, in the movie, the girl Coraline can go into another world through a little door in her new house. In the other world her parents are wonderful (in the real world, her mom and dad are typical busy parents, mom won?t buy her everything she wants, dad buried in his work etc?). Everything is better in the ?other mother?s? house, she has a great room, but everyone?s eyes are made of buttons. Well she calls this mom in the other world her ?other mother?. Turns out that the ?other mother? is evil and horrible and Coraline has to escape her terrible crazy.

Anyway, SS has soccer tonight, but has a karate testing prior to practice at soccer. BM can go to the testing, but has to go to work before soccer starts. So she told her mom to take her to testing, then back home, then take SS to soccer, then back home. Her mother just took in her 80yr old grandfather and told her she can?t just leave him sitting at home for hours and hours and wasn?t going to go back and forth 4 times. BM said ?ok fine, I?ll just have his ?other mother? take him to soccer from karate?. (wasn?t trying to reference the movie, it was coincidence) and they started laughing about the button eyes. Her 13 yo brother piped in and said ?Wait a minute, she isn?t his ?other mother?, you are the ?other mother?! She?s nice and you are evil!? Everyone had a good laugh at that. (surprisingly, even BM I hear).

I loved Coraline! I watch it whenever it comes on TV.

This is SD's favorite movie-her favorite part is the two old ladies on stage. Think she's missed the stepmom/other mother symbolism, though.
