My co-worker's daughter had a baby last night and no clue she was pregnant!! For realsies!! She's a teacher and was at open house- started feeling nauseous, crampy, gotta poop kind of feeling. Made it home and it got worse so they called an ambulance! She had the baby in the ambulance before they even got to the hospital. Guess she's a bigger girl- gained a little weight (all over, not belly), no symptoms, no kicking, and had spotting all through! Baby boy was 8lb 7oz and 21" long!! How do you not know? And she has a 2.5 year old!!
Re: Real life "I didn't know I was pregnant!"
I just don't understand how you do not know. ESPECIALLY when you already have a kid.
Is everyone healthy??
I always thought these stories sounded crazy, but a long time friend of mine had this happen last June.
She didn't gain any weight, felt no kicking, and delivered an 8 lb. little girl at her parent's house after a couple of hours of what she said felt like period cramps. She a really tall girl, which is the only reason they could explain how she never looked pregnant.
Maybe she had an anterior placenta...I hear that can make it harder to feel the kicks.
I have a friend who "didn't know" she was pregnant too. She was actually being treated for uterine cancer, the doc didn't even test her for pregnancy when she started to get bigger, just told her is was due to the tumor. Lo and behold, she pops out a baby.
She sued the doctor and he lost his license, she gave the baby up for adoption as it was quite a shock for her and her BF.
I used to work with someone who went through this...I wasn't close with her so I don't know what the whole deal was, but apparently she had fibroids or a similar condition that a) prevented her from getting periods (or regular ones anyway) and b) supposedly accounted for the stomach growth.
I find it hard to believe she didn't know at all, b/c she already had a 2-year old...how do you not know when you've been through it before? She smoked the whole time too, and supposedly she and baby were perfectly healthy.
He's growing up, but he'll always be my baby!

...big brother to...???? Due March 2014!
that is amazing. especially since she already has a child! i mean...it really blows my mind....and plus, she's a teacher, so obviously she is an educated, intelligent person. i hope everybody is doing well!
you know, my bump is much smaller than average and sometimes i wonder if i could have been one of these peopel too, but there is just no way. i mean, you'd have to be completely out of tune with your own body to not notice ANYthing i'd think....crazy!
Wow, that is so sad...Glad the doc lost his license...some of them really shouldnt be in practice! My mom had a traumatic birth experience with me but couldnt go threw the legal process because of the emotional stress. I know how it has affected her my whole life and I really wish she could have sued him and have his license revoked...because I think it would have given her some peace of mind.
I can believe the not feeling kicks thing. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have felt my baby almost at all (and I could probably pass off the rest as something random if it was one of the times she kicked hard enough) if I hadn't been looking for it.
However, the lack of period and this huge bump that came out of nowhere (considering I'm only about 8 pounds above prepregnancy) definitely let me know I'm pregnant.
Yeah I'm glad she did. It turned out it had happened before, when she told the nurses her doctor everyone was like, " wow this has happened twice". The other girl didn't sue him though.
She smoked, took chemotherapy pills ect all through the pregnancy, and he turned out fine. Was quite amazing.
These stories amaze me. First of all how do you not feel a baby move inside you? I am constantly feeling things, feet, arms, bubbles, etc.
Second, I would have to be the size of the marshmallow man in ghostbusters to hide this pregnancy. My belly arrives minutes before I do...
