Nurseries and Baby Gear

Fisher Price Zen Collection.

I obviously still have awhile before I have to make a decision, but I'm a researcher so I figured I'd ask.

Originally DH and I were pretty set on this collection as far as swing and bouncy seat go (possibly bassinet, but were not sure if we really need/want one) because neither of us are huge fans of baby items that scream "WE HAVE A BABY!! LOOK AT ALL OF OUR BRIGHT STUFF TO PROVE IT!" and we don't have a large house so some stuff will be in the living room. I still want to feel like an adult in my own home. BUT, I have read some reviews that say the toys are boring and baby found them less than stimulating.

Does anyone have this collection willing to give a review? Or do anyone have any other suggestions for something that is equally refined as far as colors and things go, but is more interesting for baby?

  • We have the zen bouncy seat. The colors and materials are wonderful. I do like how it blends in nicely with the other decor I have in my house. It works well but my one complaint is the mobile does nothing! It just hangs there and isn't very stimulating at all.

  • I thought I LOVED their swing. But after seeing a few others in stores, it seemed slightly bigger that others (not enough to really steer me away- we have a small house too) and it didn't seem to recline as much as others. i think we're going with the fisher price starlight swing.

  • We have the swing and LOVE it. It blends in with our family room and the swing seat is removable and we put DS in it and he eats right with us in the kitchen. It swings 2 ways and it plugs in. DS is 6 weeks so I can't speak to his interest in the toys- he loves our ceiling fan more than anything else.
  • We bought the swing.  I don't have a baby yet to try it out, but we put it together and I love it.  It was the only one I could find that swings both ways, can run on batteries or can plug in, and the seat can be removed and used as a simple infant seat.  This way, if the baby falls asleep in the swing, I can detach the seat and bring him/her with me into another room without waking him/her up.

ETA: I also love the way it looks and blends in with our decor.

this is hilarious  I am sorry to say I am guilty.  I've often said my living room looks like a box of crayons exploded.  Just taking a minute to laugh at myself.  Carry on.
