I made a scrapbook page last night (first time) and used rubber cement. The page was really thick and I had no idea it would leak through. I laid it on my formal dining room table. When I picked it up this morning, there was several huge rubber cement spots on the table. I grabbed some pledge to see it would come off easily. No such luck. It almost looks like it messed the finish of the table up. DH is probably going to freak when he sees it. Anyone have any tips as to how to remove rubber cement??
On a lighter note, I had a temp spike this morning! Yea!!

How can I remove Rubber Cement?
Removal of Elmer's Rubber Cement can be accomplished using mineral spirits or rubber cement thinner. Apply the solvent to a clean cloth and place it on the glue for several hours. This will soften the glue which can then be removed with a clean dry cloth. Always test the solvent on an inconspicuous area first to check for compatibility issues.
YAY for the temp spike today! That is a good thing.
For your table....might not be so good. First thing, I hope you were using rubber cement that is so called "approved" for archival use. If you didn't the parts of your page where you used it can/will discolor, disfigure or disintegrate over time. I'm a scrapbooker and crafter myself and I have learned things the hard way so take it from me. Make sure everything you use is archival safe. For your table, is there actual cement on the table or does it just look that way? If there is actual cement on the table you could use a rubber cement picker upper, those work pretty good. But if there isn't anything there, then your finish is probably messed up. Sorry. I have the same thing on my dining table from nail polish remover. DH and I are going to have to sand it down and refinish it to fix it. sorry I don't have a better answer for you.
My best friend super glued a pen to my coffee table...when I oulled it off, it took a chunk of the wood with it. I had to sand down the whole top and refinish : (
Good Luck!
