I seriously so bummed right now...I had a dr. appointment today and the dr. wasn't there but when I asked the nurse when I would get to have an ultrasound she said the doctor doesn't do them until 28 weeks as long as there are no complications! I'm really bummed out because I am anxious to find out the sex of the baby... I have bins full of girl clothes that I need to sort through if it's another girl... or since we don't have a lot of money to spare... I want to stock up on boy stuff as soon as possible... Also, we only have a 2 bedroom house, so I need to figure out how I am going to make one bedroom work... don't want to stick my little boy in a sea of pink. My husband works about 100 hours a week and all of my family lives out of town...so preparing in advance is really important to me. plus, all of my baby stuff is in another state... I don't want to drag it all to my house if i won't be using it...we don't really have the room for it all!!
Sorry for such a long vent!! Anyone else in the same boat???

This.
i agree. i would really question.
i ditched who would have been my first OB because she and i did not agree on things (she wasnt even going to give me the option of the NT scans - saying i was silly to think i needed them unless i thought my baby would be defected - no sh*t thats how she messaged me).
if you arent comfortable with that, are you able to switch clinics or drs?
how are they supposed to know that there are no complications if they don't even do a 20 week scan?
that makes no sense. double check to see if the nurse was right, if so, get a new doc!
Agree with all PPs. This is nuts. It's hard to do, but switch OBs if you feel necessary. I just switched and love my new one. His 14w scan found placenta previa. Sure you don't have to have a 14w scan, but a 18 or 20 is almost a must.
Keep us posted!
I would switch doctors without batting an eye. That's ridiculous, and I don't consider it proper care. I'd also inform my old doctor when I left why I was leaving, and suggest they revise their policy.
Edited.
I know some practices do no u/s whatsoever so it isn't unheard of. However, you need to do what you feel comfortable with. I think the 20 week anatomy scan is imperative to make sure everything is growing on track. And oh yeah, there's that sex reveal bonus!
I agree with the pp that if you don't agree with the policies of your practice you should find a new one. Of course I would confirm this information with your OB in case the nurse was wrong.
