TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

Season Change & BBT

Okay, here's a noob question for you guys:

How much should adding a blanket at night affect my BBT?

I just started this last night & my temp was a little higher this morning.  Since it's so close to the time when it looks like I Oed, & since I've been mislead about Oing before, I want to make sure it stays as consistent as possible.  (I think that during the past few season changes I've been lucky enough to be in a stage of my cycle where it didn't really matter.)  FWIW, yesterday & the day before it was pretty cool, & my temps were still up.

So, two thoughts:  1.  At this point, not using an extra blanket might falsely lower my temp because it's getting cold at night.  2.  Using an extra blanket might falsely raise my temp...but if my temp's going to be off either way, at least I'll be warm.  ;)

Your experiences?  Suggestions?

TIA!!!  :)

Re: Season Change & BBT

  • I've been noticing a difference of about 0.2 degrees, give or take, since it started getting cold at night and I've been hiding under my blanket. I'm not willing to keep myself cold just to have a pretty chart...you're going to ovulate or not independent of how comfortably warm you are at night.

  • I had read that, unless you use a heating blanket, it doesn't make a huge difference that would hurt your chart. It would probably vary person to person, but I say, use a blanket.

  • Thank you for your input, ladies!

I am DEFINITELY going to continue using the blanket.  And my temp today was about 0.2 degrees higher, too...which is still high enough to be post-O.  :)  Guess I was mostly wondering if anyone else had noticed a temp change & by how much.

Thanks again.  Hope you're all snuggly in bed tonight, too!  :)
