Need suggestions for non-traditional lullabies

I sing "This Little Bird" to my DS every night before bed (originally by Marianne Faithful but featured as a "hidden track" on Jewel's Spirit album which she sings with her mother).  It's a beautiful song- somewhat morbid ending.  It's getting a little old though.  Anyone have a song that they just love to sing to their LO that isn't a traditional nursery rhyme?  I'm an elementary music teacher/singer so I can't stand to sing the usual kid songs that I sing at work everyday!  TIA!!!   The link below should be the Jewel song- not sure it's going to work.

  • Cocoon by Jack Johnson

     Nobody's Crying by Patty Griffin

I Will Follow You Into the Dark by Death Cab for Cutie

Don't Worry Baby by The Beach Boys

Dream, Dream, Dream by The Everly Brothers (my LO's name is Everly)

They aren't really lullabies because they're baby songs but my LO likes the tempo.  As for a contemporary lullaby, I really like "Baby Mine" by Alison Kraus.

I love this song!  Norah Jones "Come Away with Me!"

I used to work as a preschool teacher and we used lots of non-taditional music for nap time like: Norah Jones, Melissa Etheridge, Enya

I sing I Will Follow You into the Dark to Lily, too! This one's great!

It's kind of a cryptic song really, but sooo beautiful. I cry pretty much any time I sing it, too. haha.

And yes, Patty Griffin *is* great stuff.  OH! Colbie Caillat also has a song called "Capri" about a pregnant mama - I used it in LO's video/pic montage & it's very pretty, too.

I love Capri (and loved listening to it when I was pregnant)- makes me want to have a little girl just so I can be pregnant with her and sing that song ;-)
