need freezer bottles recommendation

since it seems like the medela freezer bags shouldn't ideally be reused I am looking for a bottle that can go in the freezer. medela makes bottles that are freezer compatible but they only hold 2.5 oz (vs. the 5 oz that the bags hold). does anyone have a recommendation for freezer compatible bottles that hold greater amounts?

Re: need freezer bottles recommendation

  • i have some 3 oz ones that came from the hospital - i think they actually say similac on them. but they only hold 3 oz. they are harder to thaw than the flat bags.

  • I use the glass evenflo 8oz. in the fridge and freezer to hold larger quantities, works great!
  • I used the playtex drop in liners.  They made and adapter and storage kit for the freezer.  It attached to my medela pump, once I was done pumping I unscrewed form the pump and screwed on a lid, flipped it upside down and put it in the freezer.  When it came time to do bottles, I pulled it out, let it thaw and droped the liner in the bottle.

  • These aren't bottles, but they are what I use for storage breastmilk in the freezer:

I thaw the milk then pour into bottle.  Or, they come with an adapter top that you can put a nipple on and use as a bottle, as well as pump right into it.  However, sounds like you have a Medela pump.  As far as pumping into these and using them as a bottle, it might only work with Avent stuff. But if you don't mind pumping and then pouring into these, I think they work well. They hold 6 oz.

  • I use freezer bags, but my lactation consultant suggested the smaller sized mason jars were perfect.
