Are Chicco Ketfit 30 is more like a Chicco Keyfit 17. It is way too narrow now for him. We are going to have to get a new car set soon, we don't want to spend a fortune because we need two...recommend your car seat...I haven't even though about this yet bc I didn't think we would have to do this until next year. Plus he getting too heavy to carry in it.
Re: Already too big for infant carset! :O(
We're getting the "First Years Convertible" carseat, its about $140 on albee baby.com under their closeout items. I haven't gotten it yet though, I expect it'll arrive this week. So we don't know about the fit yet or anything. Our DS is def outgrown his as well. He doesnt' like being in it anymore and he is almost at the weight limit. He's 19-20lbs and the limit on the infant seat is 22lbs.
If you want something inexpensive, one that got great reviews on consumerreports.org as well as consumersearch.com is the Cosco Scenera, its around $50. Its pretty basic, no fancy padding etc, but it scored very well in the crash tests. You can find them at Walmart. It's also a convertible so it can hold up to 65lbs I think.
here is a link to the review on consumersearch.

We're in the same situation too-technically he still fits (he's a little over 20 pounds now and our carseat is up to 25 lbs) he's just so tall to boot! We'll probably buy one within the next few weeks..i'll probably go with a Graco brand though (just a personal preferance on their products)
Yeah he is just to wide for his, soon though he will be too long. I don't get why they even bother with weight, it should be width and height. I am glad this was given to us as a gift b/c it seems like a waste of money now, I just thought it would have lasted much longer.
Now that it is getting chillier out, if he has a hoodie on or a fleece he looks all scrunched in. He is pretty low maintenance and seems to tolerate being smooshed in but I feel bad for the little dude.
