Took DD to dr yesterday for 9 month visit & dr was freaking out about her weight. She's in the 3 % for weight. So now I'm trying to stuff food down her but really don't have any clue how much I should really be giving her.
Well she had a lot of suggestions like adding heavy cream, butter, any fatty to her food but didn't really give an idea of how much I should be feeding her. And I didn't think to ask at the time.
What did the doctor say besides she's underweight? Did they give any tips? Anyway- our LO gets an 8 oz. bottle of formula every 3-4 hours. For lunch he gets a jar of stage 2 or 3 fruit and for dinner gets a jar of stage 2 or 3 veggie. Sometimes we'll give him a jar of fruit for breakfast but we're not consistant with that. Also, he gets Mum Mums or puffs (maybe bread or cheese) throughout the day as a snack or with dinner. Lately he's not been eating his purees so we may be moving to more finger foods in the near future. I'm going to get more info at his 9 month check up.
I subscribe to the theory that most of their nutrients up to a year should come from BM/formula. My DD drinks 3-5 oz of BM up 8 times a day.
Then she eats:
1-2 oz of oatmeal with a fruit for breakfast
2 oz of meat, veggie, fruit or yogurt for lunch
2-3 oz of meat, veggie, fruit or yogurt for dinner
I mix a little bit of full fat organic yogurt with EVERYTHING. She eats brocolli-yogurt, avocado-yogurt, sweet potato-yogurt........you get the point. Cabot makes one with cream in it, so it's loaded with fat.
Also, go for avocado for high fat and lots of nutrients.
I'm not a doctor, but I refuse to stuff DD with butter just so she can gain weight. I'd rather give her more BM or yogurt.

Well I guess I've been doing about what y'all have. I give her full fat yogurt for breakfast, stage 2 jar fruit for lunch, stage 2 jar veggie for dinner plus oatmeal with that, and snacks & BM throughout the day. Dr said to try some Pediasure so I guess I'll try that too.
My LO has 3 "meals"/day and has about 4- 6oz. bottles of formula throughout the day. Her meals are usually 1 jar (stage 2 or 3) of food.. if she eats stage 2 food (which is smaller), she'll usually have some cereal (2tbsp) mixed in and some cheerios. Or we'd give her 3-4 ice cubes of avocado or squash and 2 tbsp of cereal mixed in it. Or she'll get bits and pieces of what we are eating.
My 9 mth. old eats a lot of table food. He only will take 2 oz. of milk at a time, but he nurses quite a bit at night.
He's not real big (19 lbs.) but he's super active too. I give him buttered ww toast and also a lot of mashed avocado with his jarred meals (I mix them together). For taste I sometimes add homemade gravy to his meals or cottage cheese (good protein). Or I mash boiled egg yolk and add a bit of butter.
I'm surprised they are all that worried in the first place - don't let them freak you out. DS was in the 3% for weight last time we went and they didn't think it was that big of a deal, even though he had been like 30% and 25% during previous visits. Sometimes it's all about the timing of a growth spurt. I know it's impossible to feed a kid who doesn't want to eat, and frankly sneaking in unhealthy foods doesn't make a while lot of sense. We just always have things like puffs around and veggies sticks (ok, so those are evil and fatty but I didn't realize until we got them home so he'll eat them until they are gone) and I let him snack pretty much all day long. I don't think it's made an iota of a difference though - he's just a tiny kid. Don't get too stressed out - she is only going to eat what she wants and when she wants anyway and it's best to not make eating times a battle...imagine the relationship that creates with food...

How much does your LO weigh?
Exactly this. He sometimes snacks on a piece of cheese or some puffs, and sometimes his lunch is yogurt.
I have a big guy, and here's what he eats:
28oz of formula (four 7oz bottles)
Stage 2 container for breakfast and lunch (3.5oz each)
Finger foods and usually another Stage 2 jar for dinner. We're still working on finger foods, so I don't count those towards his nutritional value.
He also has snacks of puffs at daycare.
