May 2011 Moms

................ :(

Had a crap first appointment - all they did was take my blood pressure and tell me they will book me in with a midwife.

Then I come home, go to the bathroom........... and there is bright red blood.   CRAP!  I'm supposed to go on a business trip tomorrow.

What do I do?

Re: ................ :(

  • Call the dr. and tell them. See what they have to say. Then sit and relax if you can.

  • Crap. I'm sorry. :(  I would make them see you for an ultrasound or go to the ER.

  • Call your dr as others have suggested and try to relax.  I really hope everything turns out ok.

  • I hope its nothing and that it stops very soon.  My Dr. said to let them know about any blood so you should give them a call.  That is what they are there for.

  • Oh, wait I see you are in London and I'm guessing your GP is probably not available now.  If you have a private doctor, then obviously call him/her now but if you are using the NHS and your bleeding increases that is obviously something to be concerned about so I would ring NHS Direct for advice in that case.

  • I know this is no real excuse, but its 8:30pm and I know they are gone.  Do I just put my feet up and see how it goes.... or call and see if they have an emergency line?

TMI.... its only when I wiped, no flow or anything.

  • I spotted after hours and called the line they have set up...someone got back to me in less than 10 min. Just call and let us know!
  • My midwife said that it is the combination of cramping and spotting that would have them worried, or if you are soaking a pad an hour with blood.  Get your feet up, relax, and drink your water.  Many women spot during their pregnancy and are fine, even though it is a very unnerving experience.  If you are still spotting in the morning, call the doctor.

Ok distraction time...I used to live in London around Kilburn Park and went to school in Bloomsbury. Loved it!! Totally miss being there and hoping the tube every morning to get to class. How did you end up there?

  • I moved here for work almost 3 years ago.  Live in Kent and work up in the city :)

Please tell me you take advantage of the awesome museums in town!

    Kent...adore! :)

Used to love to grab a cuppa at a local pub and then walk the Thames on the weekend, especially crossing one of the bridges if possible.

  • Fingers crossed that there is nothing to worry about.  I had no cramping, just bleeding and mine turned out to be an SCH.  Not much to worry about.

  • Thinking of you and hope everything's ok!
  • Good luck honey.  It doesn't sound like a significant amount of blood. Hope you're still resting and your doc gets back to you soon!  Sending big hugs as well!
