Holy hell. I need to check my BP tonight for realz!
We were given a 30 days notice to leave our house. We rented when we moved here last year since we're military and didn't want to jump into a purchase without knowing the area very well. Well the owner said he was eithe raising our monthly payments $200 more per month or we could move out. NICE. I have a toddler, a baby on the way and now I have to find a new effin house!
We dont have enough time to buy a house in 3 weeks, and nice rentals are few and far between! If we happen to find something we like, it's gobbled up in a heartbeat because every other military family is doing the same thing.
DH is deploying a month after the baby comes and I just want somewhere nice and safe!! We decided to downsize from 4 bedromms to 3 to try to save some money but it seems like there is nothing less than what we pay now. It would be nice to save $100 or so, but its just not happening. DH thinks something will just pop up. I cannot convince him that costs go UP every year and its highly unlikely we'll find something cheaper than what were in now.
Someone send me finding a house soon before I murder my husband dust please. haha

Holy sh^t balls dude!!! That sucks huge!! I am so sorry.
I am sending you all the positive thoughts I have and all the house dust I could dig up...I had a little left from when we were looking last year.
Best of luck, you may want to consider calling a Realtor, they may have leads that won't be in the paper or craigslist.

I don't know what the regulations are where you are, but is your landlord allowed to do that? Here they can only raise the rent by 4% per year and can only be done when the lease is up for renewal...do you have a term rental or do you month by month? Also, here he would have to give you 2-3 months notice (I can't remember which). As I said I don't know anything about where you are, but maybe you want to check it out to make sure he is not pulling on over on you.

That is rediculous! What kind of a moron kicks a family out of a home, especially when one of the members of the family are pregnant! That duche has a death wish! I'll grab my shank! We'll cut his eyes out and tie them to his nut sack and dangle him over a pack of hungry wolves... right mandaree? This is where your dream comes in handy!
I'm so sorry this is happening!! I'm sending dust your way, but I still think we could get mandaree's idea could work.
we do have a realtor who is helping us look. But its like we can even get our schedules straight to go look at a house and its off the market within a damn day!
Our lease was up at the end of the month anyway but we told the management company we were definetly going to renew. They came and did the renewal inspection and everything and then the douchebag owner changed his mind.
dh just suggested a 2 bedroom apartment and I threatened to punch him.
To go from a 2000 sq ft house to 1000 or something is insane. we'd be spending money on storage and all kinds of crap. I cant do apartment life again. I just cant!!
so he moved out and hired a property management company to handle everything. So we haven't ever dealt with the owner directly in the last year.
I guess I got a call around mid sept from the owner saying he was going to a) get rid of the management company because he felt like they didnt do anything for him
b) would need to increase the rent by $200 a month
we could either Continue to rent with HIM and no more managment company and pay the $200, or he would just move back in at the end of our lease.
Before I could even call him back and tell him whether we would be paying that or offer something else to him, I got a letter from the management company with a notice to vacant at the end of our lease.
The other day we get a call from the management company saying the owner dropped the mgt company effective 10/1. So now anything we need goes directly through him. The final inspection is just with him and he is in charge or refunding my deposit. It makes me nervous to not have a management company to speak for me anymore and nervous to deal with one guy and getting my deposit back and what not. But my hands are tied and hopefully it works out.
It wasn't out of the blue per say, but definetly was quick and sucks!!!
I dont think he really did anything lawyer retaining worthy (is that a phrase? haha). BUt its just crappy timing!!!!!
I think on base you could get some kind of legal advice and of course it would be free. Just to see if there's anything you don't know about that could help your situation.
