Moms of tummy sleepers...

When did you let LO sleep with a lovie or small blanket? We are trying to help DS with whatever sleep issue he seems to have so I put his elephant in his crib the past two nights (I was desparate). E sleeps on his tummy and pulls the elephant near his head so he can snuggle with the elephant's ear.

DH is worried that E will suffocate, but E rolls all over the place in his sleep and seems to change postition about every 30 minutes. Last night around 2 am DH went and moved the elephant because he was worried E couldn't breathe. By the time he got back to bed E had already pulled the elephant back to him and was sleeping just fine.

Any comments or suggestions?

  • I think he is fine.  We offered DS a lovey when he was about 4 months old.  He was going through the 4 month wakeful and it seemed like he was tossing and turning a lot so we thought that it might help.  It did!  He still sleeps with it nightly.  He loves his Baa Baa!

  • Cohen has had a lovie in his crib just a little prior to him turning 4 months.  When he started rolling around is when I felt more comfortable letting him have that and a blanket.  We used to have the seahorse (instead of the lovie) in there until he figured out how to turn it on. Waking up to that playing through the monitor was not my idea of an alarm clock! Big Smile
