Chalkboard Pumpkins

I absolutely love this idea, so I thought I would share! :)

Just spray paint pumpkins (real or fake) with chalkboard paint and you're done!

I definitely want to do the Trick or Treat ones like the picture, but I'm thinking it would be great to let DD decorate some too. She'd love that :)

Also, do you think real pumpkins would work for this...last until Halloween in cool weather?

Re: Chalkboard Pumpkins

  • Most pumpkin seem to last for a while as long as you do not cut them.  I would if I were you use those real looking one that way you can have them for years to come. how cute

  • Cute!

If you don't cut a pumpkin up, it lasts for several weeks, especially if it doesn't get frozen.  I've been known to toss ours out finally when DH is putting up the Christmas lights Surprise.

  • CUTE! I might do this with a couple fake pumpkins I got at Michaels.

  • LOVE this idea! DD loves doing chalk on the driveway, so I'm sure she will have a great time doing this. I will probably get a couple of the fake ones from Michael's or JoAnn's, so I can save them. Thanks for sharing. Smile

  • Great idea.  Thank you so much for sharing!!
  • very cute idea- and easy, too :)

my only concern would be that the paint might crack and flake off?  don't know if it would work on a fake pumpkin to save each year.... if anyone makes them can you post about how well it sticks? (to real or fake pumpkins?)

griffin would love making a face with chalk on a pumpkin!

    hmmm...the flaking/chipping is a good point.

I decided on fake pumpkins, in hopes that I can reuse them! I spray painted them this afternoon and they should be dry by now. I'll let you know how it turns out! I did have to do 2 coats of paint, but I painted 3 large pumpkins and there's a ton left in the spray can.

I think I'm going to write BOO; one letter per pumpkin. We're going on a field trip to a pumpkin patch in a couple weeks so I think I'll just spray paint a real one for DD to decorate, rather then carving it ;)
