TTC After a Loss

Poll on PGAL (Re: how long did it take to conceive)

God, that was depressing.  (For me of course, I am happy for them.)  But, if you have been here as long as me (or longer of course) it will make you want to stab yourself.

For you newbies, I highly recommend reading it.  It looks like most of you will be out of here quite soon if that poll is any indication!

I'm sorry.  I feel guilty for complaining when I read this.  I am in awe of your patience, truly.

  • So I guess a response of "TTA for 35 cycles because the universe keeps fvcking me over" wouldn't be uplifting.

    Sorry bit bitter today

  • I can't bear to look.  It took nine months to get KU with the baby we lost.  Next week marks a year since our m/c.  :(
  • That was pretty depressing.  After my 1st loss (c/p) we were told we could try right away and I did get pregnant that next month, but that ended in my 2nd loss.  Then we were TTA for 1 month and this was our 5th cycle TTC again.  I am pretty sure this cycle is a bust too (all BFN's) so now I just wait for AF to start TTC # 6 post D&C.  Of course, it took us 7 cycles to even get pregnant the first time - so this next cycle will be 16 months since we started TTC and still no take home baby.  ::sigh::

  • I don't know what's more depressing, the ones who only took one cycle or the ones that took a year.

  • I seriously don't answer those questions because my answer of "2 years" makes people stabby.

  • You ladies are forgetting something. It may have only taken me one cycle each time. But the "each time" is the important part of that story, and that's true for several of those ladies. Just because we got pregnant quickly, doesn't mean we stayed pregnant. Or that we will this time either.

It's not always the actual conception that is the challenge.

Point well taken and definitely not discounted.  Your story is obviously fresh to me, but there may be many more like you that I don't take into account because I don't remember them as well.

  • Ambrandau, I didn't forget that Sad I am having trouble with both (getting and staying) with #2. I wouldn't mind the time so much of I knew I had a good track record. I am such a pessimist that I am assuming more losses before we get lucky again.

Yes, but it is true.  I think they should hear the full range of possibilities, but mostly because I am a bitter jerk.

  • I read it and am considered a newbie. It doesn't give me any extra confidence or help though. There are no ectopic answers on there. it would be slightly comforting to read one that had a success after an ectopic.....I posted earlier on a thread that I wasn't angry or bitter, but after reading that, I think I might be today.

  • Or you could be like me, and get pregnant the first time, every time. And then miscarry, every time.
  • Well...I have been at this for over a year now...That is just depressing!
