How many US have you had?

Good morning everyone!

I noticed on here that a lot of people's doctor's hold off on giving US until later in the pregnancy. I have already had 3 and I am going for another one on Thurs! Is that weird? The first one was at my first visit just under 5w, then I had another to see if they could see the heartbeat at 5w6d but they didnt so I had another one a week later. He is having me come back Thursday again and then I will start going every four weeks. Should I be worried about the amount of US I have had already??

I've had 2 already and have a 3rd one scheduled for Thursday. However, I'm still under the care of my RE so that's why I've had several at this point.

I think it honestly depends on the doctor and each individual pregnancy. It seems like at least one of yours was a follow up to previous one.

I have had 2. One at 6w4d and another at 7w4d. The first was to date my pregnancy and the second was because my doctor was convinced I am further along than he measured (even though I told him through temping I didn't O till Aug 21st which is about right for what he measured).

As long as everything is healthy with baby I would just relax and enjoy getting to see your baby so much, I wish my doc was u/s happy haha. I wont get another one till 20 weeks or so.

So you dont think that US are harmful for the baby? Why do some doctor's wait then? Dont get me wrong, I love seeing my baby so much....?

I have had one U/S so far, where they only saw the sac and the yolk. I have another U/S on Friday as a follow-up. The first was meant to be for dating, but I think I wasn't far enough along. We did betas and the numbers looked good.

Be thankful if you are a Mama that has to wait. It gives the baby time to grow and will be easier to be seen.

We are looking forward to getting our 'confirmation' that there is a baby in there, but wish they would have made us wait until 8+ weeks to begin the process. Two weeks of worry on top of strong pregnancy symptoms...not ideal! The symptoms are keeping my hopes high though, if there was something wrong they wouldn't be there, right? Confused

None so far (9 weeks). I think they might do one to date the pregnancy after my second appointment (next week at 10 weeks).

I think it's just a matter of what equipment your doctor has easy access to.

They take a machine and a tech and time.

That costs money.

I've had 2. One was an early viability u/s (where we discovered our twins) and the other was just a quick peek to be sure they were still alive (since I was at the point where my first pregnancy stopped developing). I have the NT scan scheduled for next week, and then I'll have u/s's every 4 weeks since twins require more monitoring than a singleton pregnancy.

I have only had one and the doctor just used the portable machine to date and see the heartbeat. With my son I had already had 2 by now because I was spotting. It depends on the doctor and every situation is different. I had 3 total with my son and am guessing I will probably only have 2 with this little one!

I've only had 1 and won't have another until around 20 weeks for the big NT scan and to find out the sex.

I don't want to do too many as I think too many can possibly be harmful.

I've had two U/S due to spotting (for the first one) and the second to date the pregnancy and see the HB. I won't have another until my 12wk appointment and then again at around 20wks.

I have had 2. One was at 6 wk 1 day because my HcG numbers were very high and the second a week later was because they weren't doubling. I won't have another until the anatomy scan at 20 weeks and I think that may be it though I have a septated Uterus so there is a chance they will check me more as I get closer to EDD , I will be at a higher risk of preterm labor.

It just depends on the doctor and what is going on with your pregnancy. Sounds like you had some follow-up u/s. I won't have one til 8 weeks, but last time I had several in the last month, because DS kept flipping around in there!

I have had 3 ultrasounds. One to date the pregnancy, the second one for the heartbeat and then the third to see how big my cyst was getting in a week timeframe. I do not go back until end of next week for my next one so it has been a few weeks in between. I wish I could go every week for one.. LOL

I'm almost 10 wks and have my 2nd one on Fri. I'll probably have 4-5 by the time I get to my big u/s at 18-20 wks.

I have not even had one US yet! I am so worried about it (this is my first pregnancy, and I called the doctor at 4 weeks, but they didn't schedule my first US until I will be 10 weeks!)

Is this normal? I have been to the doctor twice, but they didn't even listen with a doppler or anything yet, just talked!

I have not even gone for my first real appt. I have gone in for blood work.

My first schedule appt that includes a U/S is Oct 20 ( i will be around 10 weeks)

But I will get 3 u/s through out my pregnancy.

1 - to confirm/heart beat/date (between 8-10 weeks)

2 - Anatomy scan/gender (18-20 weeks)

3 - head position/hip placement/ (cool part it is done in 3d with a DVD) - 30 weeks

I thought I had one last week... but when I called to schedule my NT scan today they said a dat with the dildo cam didn't count.... so I guess I won't have my first one until my NT scan then....
