Hawaii Babies

Updates!

Hello everyone!  I've been a bit MIA and I know it's been quiet here lately so I thought I'd post some updates.

- I guess the biggest one is that we are full-term!  AND, I lost my MP yesterday morning.  Whoa!  It didn't even occur to me that I might see it.  Stick out tongue  I freaked out a little because I feel like there's so much left to do to prepare for this baby, but have since calmed down.  My next OB appt is this Wednesday, which will also be my first internal exam.  We'll see how I'm progressing!

- Some of you might remember that MH was laid off back in June.  I'm thankful to report that, after a little bit of drama and soul-searching, he's been employed for the last 6 weeks.

- My last day of work is this Friday...if I last that long!  I'm so ready to leave already.  And my feet/ankles have really swollen up in the last few days.  I almost wore my slippahs to the office today.  Stick out tongue  Is it true that your feet never really shrink back down to their pre-preg size?

Anyway, that's it for me.  How's everyone else doing?

ETA: Here's a bump comparison.  I was shocked to see how much I've grown in the past 3 weeks!

Re: Updates!

  • well, hello date twin ;-). yay for full term!!

OMG you lost your MP? How did you know? Have you been feeling any contractions? I had my first internal exam last Friday and cervix is still closed! lol. We'll see if there are any progress during my next appointment this coming Friday.

Sorry to hear about the swelling! TG, I haven't had any (knock on wood). Drinks lotsa water!! :-).

So lucky your last day at work is this Friday! I am planning to work until I go into labor! lol. As much as I want to take off (although, I can't think of anything I'd do at home?!), I don't wanna use my vacation days (mat leave starts the day I give birth). I am so pysched to be on maternity leave for 16 weeks though. How long do you plan to be out? I think I have mentally checked out from work since last week! lol

So excited for you!! Keep us posted!!! :-)

Indifferent)  yay for B finding another job!  yay for mat leave starting next week!  i start mat leave at 38 weeks too (we get 2 weeks before due date - use it or lose it - i'm so happy!) and i am SO looking forward to it already.  5 more weeks...  i too, was surprised at your bump comparison.  you still look amazing!!  i keep wondering how much bigger I'm going to get...  keep those feet up as much as you can, and enjoy the last few weeks pre-baby Big Smile

let us know how the appt goes on wed!  does the loss of your MP mean that baby T will likely be early?  i thought it normally happened closer to labor!  or can ppl hang out a few cm dialated for a while?  ...we've finished our childbirth classes - why don't i know these things?!

Yes, I'm 99.9% sure I lost my MP.  TMI, but I was on the toilet peeing and my nose was a little runny.  So I grabbed some TP and as I was blowing my nose, I felt something down there.  It was a big glob of whitish/yellowish/clear mucous with some brown streaks in it.  It reminded me of rubber cement at first.  Sorta stretchy, springy and sticky.  Sorry if that was graphic.  After TCOYF, describing mucous just comes naturally.  Stick out tongue

Sorry to hear about the swelling! TG, I haven't had any (knock on wood). Drinks lotsa water!! :-).

I've been drinking a lot of water.  I think it's the weight of my uterus restricting blood flow from my lower extremities.

I feel like there's so much I need to do at home!  We have a small place and do not have a nursery.  It's been a challenge being creative with the space we have.  I still have a lot of baby laundry and organizing to do!

I will be off for 1 year.

Sandra!  Where has the time gone?!  You're 33 weeks already!  I've been meaning to e-mail you, but time has really gotten away from me.  I think of you often.  Smile

Thanks to the movie Knocked Up, I also thought that labor is imminent when you lose your MP.  And the term "bloody show"?  I was expecting my MP to look differently.  Stick out tongue  After I lost what I thought was my MP, I flipped through my Mayo book and also did some Google-ing.  I knew I could count on someone to post a photo of their MP.  Stick out tongue  Anyway, the Mayo book says that you can lose your MP a couple of weeks before...or just before...going into labor.  I don't feel any differently otherwise so it's a waiting game.

No worries on the TMI. I don't get grossed out easily lol. Makes me aware on what exactly to look for if it happens to me.

I am sure you'll be fine and will be ready in no time :-). I also felt like how you feel a couple of weeks ago. I was off work for a week nesting and felt fine after. Now, I am more relaxed lol. It's funny how these little creatures can take up so much space! lol.

One year maternity leave is soo awesome!! I thought they only have that in Canada. So jealous!Big Smile. Goodluck mama Yes

LOL, well it's actually not maternity leave.  I got approval for an extended leave of absence and will be leave without pay for the entire year.  MH and I decided early on that we would try to see if I could get a year off and put certain things into motion to help us do it financially.  We feel it's the right decision for our family.  Smile

  • I'm so excited for you! You made it farther than I did. I can't believe the drastic difference in your belly that the 3 weeks made, holy smokes! You look incredible!

I think it's time to pack your hospital bag. I would suggest taking your slippahs for walking around the room/hospital while you are in labor and after delivery. They made me walk around twice a day, to be honest it was nice to get out of the room!

I lost my MP with Bella and at first I thought "WTF is that?!" It was slimy and gross feeling! I wasn't lucky enough to lose mine into the toilet though, TMI for sure! it was nasty!

So glad your DH got a job, I know how stressful it can be especially in this market. He's very lucky to have found something. Will he be able to take any time off once the baby is here?

Did I mention that I'm jealous that you get to take a year off? My work will only hold my position for a max of 13 weeks.

Oh and any names yet? Maybe you've posted this but I likely missed it.
