Babies: 6 - 9 Months

First ER visit (PIP) :(

DS got hit in the face with a block at daycare. DH freaked out when he picked him up and brought him to the ER. I luckily work at the hospital and was able to go be with them. He got a CT scan (which was a horrible experience!) and luckily no fractures. Bad day for Mommy and Daddy Crying

The little girl who hit him was 4 years old and was expelled from daycare. I am going to talk to DCP tomorrow about my concerns, even though the little girl is not coming back.

I am going to invent an inflatable helmet with optional goggles. Anyone with me?

  • Poor little guy! Glad nothing serious is wrong! Is he in an in-home daycare or a center? (Just wondering why he's around the older kids.)

I'm sure it looks worse than it feels! {{hugs}} for the little guy - and for mommy!

(Be careful, people may accuse you of beating your child like Shorty does...  Wink )

This is a test. This is only a test.
  • As a CT tech, I am sorry you had a bad experience. Infants DO NOT like those huge machines! Bless his heart.

  • WTF?! omg, so sorry!

  • I would want to know why a 4 year old was in the same room as an infant. Don't they separate them by age? In any case, I'm glad she was expelled. That is pretty violent.

    Poor kid =(

Was thinking the same thing myself.  Wonder if they'll come over in droves from other boards to flame you for what couldn't possibly have been an accident.  Confused

So sorry about Logan's eye!  Poor little guy!  Glad everything is okay.  And yeah, I'm not sure I would be able to keep my cool around said 4 year old or her parents.

  • Holy goodness!  That is incredible.  Was the block made out of a brick?  Why is he around older children?  I would  have some words with the DCP.

  • I don't believe your story for one minute. Child abuser bruiser! Logan tried taking the remote from you didn't he? Lol. In all seriousness though, you were JUST telling me how freaky that little girl was! I'll have Darby beat her up!
  • He is at an in-home daycare. On M-W-F, there is 5 preschool age kids there from 8-12. Otherwise, it is just him, another 8 month old boy, and an 1 year old girl. The other children are sweethearts and play well with others.

This girl is new and I had a bad feeling about her from the day I met her 2 weeks ago. My actual text to my husband was that she looked evil and I was concerned for Logans safety while she was there. Guess I should have trusted my instincts. I just thought she had developmental delays, not behavioral problems.

  • Poor baby!! That looks bad. I am glad they dealt with the other little girls behavior.

  • Why was a 4 year old around him? just curious because the daycare I worked at didn't allow older kids to be in the same room with the babies. Except the last half hour when most teachers left if there were infants still there. But they were always separated from the older kids and with a teacher to avoid things like this from happening. Older kids are too rough to be around infants as a group. Im so sorry this happened. I hope it heals quick!! Glad hes ok.

    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

    In my camera bag:

  • Thanks everyone! He is tough. He is going to get lots of cuddles tomorrow.
  • OMG, im so sorry.

I have a question, was this discovered when DH picked him up or was DH picking him up bc of this accident?? I would be infuriated if I had discovered this upon pick and there was no phone call.

THIS!  My kids go to an in home daycare and they are all fairly close in age except one girl who is there on Friday's but she is the sweetest thing and such a great helper.  If they didnt call me when it happened I would be so upset!

  • Oh my gosh... I know accidents happen, but I would freak out too and I know my DH would!

  • She called me at work right after it happened. I am a nurse so I had her check a few things on him out. His eyeball and vision were not affected and he was not acting any differently so I didn't think I needed to leave work. Of course it looked worse than we expected which is why we took him to rule out any fractures. She called last night to check on him after he went to ER too. I had a bad feeling about this girl since she started. The other children are wonderful and love singing and playing with Logan and the other little ones. I am upset still and I am heading over to DC now to have a meeting with DCP about the whole thing.
  • Oh god... Poor little dude. :(   Hugs to you both from J and I.

  • I dont beleive it, no way a block could do that, CPS will be called!

*and he does not look happy about being in a pumpkin patch*
