Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Too attached to Mommy?

Has anyone had this happen to them?  In the last few days DD has grown unusually attached to me.  For example, DH and I were playing with her last night and I got up to get her bath ready.  I took three steps away and she started to fuss, barely out of the room and she is crying.  DH is trailing after me with her screaming in his arms and she stops immediately once I pick her up.  I know that sometimes babies go through phases of wanting one parent over the other, but it is beginning to upset DH that she only wants to be in my company.  Can anyone else relate?

  • Big time! I've got a little mama's boy on my hands and I am loving every second of it!

  • this just started happening in the last few days. I feel so bad for DH. I had to come home from a dinner party because he could not get him to calm down, but the minute I had DS in my arms he stopped crying.

Me too!  DH is okay with it...he says that he was inside of me for longer than he's been out, and that he just needs his mommy.  Big Smile

  • I also have a total momma's boy! I'm starting to need a little space after three months of it, but for now it looks like I won't be getting any breaks.

  • I have noticed that Alex dislikes it when we walk out of the room she's in. It's not all the time but sometimes she's like HEY, come BACK.

PS not like I'm going out for a mani pedi, but I will have her strapped in her bouncy and will go get my water glass from the den, that sort of thing.

  • Oh yes, my DD is totally attached to me.  Lastnight I went grocery shopping and came back to her crying with DH.  I picked her up and she immediately stopped crying.  It's going to be tough when I go back to work in January.

  • There will most likely be a "daddy phase."  Never fear.

  • LO has turned into a momma's boy the last few weeks.  He does his best smiles for me and talks to me all the time.  He's content with DH but doesn't act the same.

He's going through a phase where he gets freaked out if someone besides DH or I are in the room.  He screams and cries.  My mom stopped by today and he did this.  This is the second time in a week he as acted like this with her.  She babysits him all the time, so it was weird to see him react this way.  Hopefully it goes away!  I also attribute this to why he isn't napping in his crib anymore.  I'm not there with him.

  • Have you tried waiting a few seconds after she starts to fuss? My LO will do the same thing but once I'm out of eye sight for a minute he's totally fine. He just doesn't like watching me walk away.
  • This is my life. I can't get up to go get a drink of water while anyone else is with her without her crying. She and I are home together all day and if I go to the bathroom or am doing something with the dogs etc, she's totally fine. It's just when she's with someone that's not me.

The worst is when she wakes up in the middle of the night...DH used to go in because she would go back to sleep easier for him (no boobies to tempt her I guess!) but now, she gets quiet when she hears footsteps and then cries hysterically when she sees him and not me...

No idea what to do about it, if anything. I just keep reminding myself that someday she'll be asking me to drop her off at the mall and won't give me a second look as she runs off to meet her friends...

  • My LO has been doing the same thing for about the last two months. I go to school on Thursday evenings, and work Friday/Saturday nights, and each evening, for about 15min to an hour, LO will throw these screaming fits.  He never does it when I'm here.

One night, I was outside putting my Halloween decor out (yes, its been out for like 2 weeks) and I heard him in here just going ballistic.  I come in, pick him up and he's fine.  He does the same thing on weekends when I'm trying to sleep.

Yeah, I waited a little bit and then went to take a shower and get ready.  He had settled down a little bit by the time I was done. I had to sneak out to run errands so he wouldn't see me.  He was totally fine when I returned 2 hours later.  I just don't understand why all the sudden he's like this.
