Questions for Nannies?

Do you have a list of questions you used when interviewing nannies?

Did you come up with a contract if you didn't use an agency?

Can you post them or PM them to me please?

Thanks!

Re: Questions for Nannies?

  • you can find a ton of questions just by googling them. I printed off a bunch of different sets of questions and then just picked some as they felt appropriate throughout my interviews.

We did come up with a contract as well. It's hard to share because it has a lot of personal information on it that I would have to remove. However, all I did was find some examples online and then take the parts that worked best for our situation.

Sorry I couldn't give you specific examples, but just search for "nanny interview questions" and "nanny contract" and you'll get a bunch.

  • When do you plan to need the nanny?  I'm asking because I plan to go back to work in January and thought now would be too soon to start my nanny search, but your post has me wondering.

I plan to go back to work in January as well.  I want whoever we get to come over a couple times while I am still home with the babies to see how things run etc.  Just think, with Thanksgiving & Christmas, it's not that far away.

  • I asked the following questions:

    • Why are you interested in this position?
    • What experience do you have in nannying?
    • Tell me about a positive experience from your last nanny job.
    • Tell me about a challenging experience from your last nanny job.
    • Tell me your philosophy on discipline (I have a 5 year old too.  I gave the example of, you tell her to put away her toys and she tells you no.)
    • What would you do if both babies were crying at the same time?
    • What type of engaging activities would you do with the babies during their awake time?

I did not use a contract.
