We're taking LO on her first flight this week & I think I have most everything covered. We're flying to my parents so don't have to worry with a carseat or pnp. I'm planning on wearing her in my moby for the flight and nursing her during, so not messing with a stroller or bottles.
My ?s:
Can I wear her on the airport shuttle? We always park at an off-site lot and take a shuttle to the airport. I don't use a lot of public transport so I just wondered if anyone had experience.
Where do you change a diaper on the plane? Hopefully we won't need to, it's only a 2hr flight, but just in case. Those bathrooms make me claustrophobic alone, can't imagine with a baby in there! But is it ok to do in the seat?
TIA and any tips are appreciated!
Re: ?s for those who have flown with LO
I haven't flown with her, but I have some disposable changing pads, I would use those in the airplane bathroom. Those places are gross!! I got mine at BRU

I have worn my LOs on the shuttle. If it was one that had to go down a highway, etc I wouldn't, but our parking is on airport grounds and they go about 10 mph. They don't have seatbelts so carseats aren't an option.
They usually have one bathroom on the plane that has a changing table. It's over the toilet seat and folds down from the wall. Bring some disposable mats, they are generally not very nice but will work. If not, I've used the floor of the gallery or the bulkhead row, just ask the attendant where the best place is on your plane.
I just returned from flying with LO this weekend. I wore her on the airport shuttle and it was fine.
Not all planes have the changing table - the US Air jet we were on did, but American did not (and it was a larger plane), nor did the small US Air plane. I would use the bulkhead floor to change her if there's not a table - you don't want to have one of those "oops" moments where the pad doesn't contain everything and have pee/poop on the seat you have to sit on.
I'd make sure you have pacifiers available for take off and landing, I nursed but we ended up not taking off right away and DD started to refuse the boob.
make sure you sit in a window seat since you'll be nursing, it gave me much more elbow room and privacy.
Also I wish I'd brought my boppy, it would have been nice to have the cushion for me and her after awhile
sorry 1ht.....
Wearing her throughout the trip is best...my LO stayed nice a calm having me so near...
As th PP said nurse if you can during takeoff and landing...and have a paci...my was sleeping through takeoff and i just let her sleep. they say the ears will adjust on their own if they're sleeping...
PACK LIGHT! as far as carry on stuff...i traveled by myself....so i only brought diaperbag and her sling onboard...it really helped as they didn't call for children to board first. i think a boppy would be a bit much...unless it's a long flight...mine was 3 hrs and we were fine
The back bathrooms have changing tables....really small ones but they're there...i used a recieving blanket to lay her on....(i deemed it only for that of course!) also at the airports....only the family bathrooms had changing tables! so don't go looking in the regular stalls!
hth!! good luck!
i'd get an aisle seat so you can get up easier also
