3rd Trimester

baby shower was a success :)

Had my baby shower yesterday. It was really nice. Lots of friends and family came, food was amazing, and we got a lot of stuff for the baby! However I do have one gripe (of course, lol). I have A LOT of stuff to return. Lots of doubles of things, lots of things not off the registry. I mean its no big deal, I return it and get the things I need. I just feel a little annoyed because DH and I took a lot of time to pick out the things on our registry, and I just checked today and of the 93 things on our registry, we only got about 35 of them! Why bother making a registry when people arn't going to go off of it anyway? I mean don't get me wrong, I in no way thought we would get everything we registered for, but we got a lot of big items that we didn't register for, and didn't get a lot of the "important stuff" that we did register for. Okay, I'm done complaining. I'm grateful for all my gifts, even the ones that will be exchanged by the end of the week Smile lol.

Oh, does anyone know when BRU sends out the "completion coupon"? Cause I'd like to wait to buy some of the bigger things I need till I have the coupon to use, but at the same time I want to make sure I have the important stuff before the last minute..... Don't wanna go into labor early and not have a carseat to bring LO home in! lol.

and i thought i loved you then <3<a href="http://daisypath.com/">Daisypath Anniversary tickersBaby Birthday Ticker Ticker

  • You said it was a success but you mostly complained! =)

  • We only got 10 things off our registry. A lot of it we got but they just didn't shop off of it. But, I do have to say...a lot of the gifts we got that weren't on the registry were some of the most thoughtful/helpful gifts we could have asked for!
  • I think it's weird how differently people look at gift registries. Some people think it's just a list of what you need, so they buy whatever they can find, while others realize that what you registered for is EXACTLY what you wanted. It's kind of annoying having to take stuff back, but think of it as being able to go buy everything yourself without spending your own money. Almost like free shopping!

  • Hmmm... DH and I are going to have the same problem. We have 200 items between our 2 registries (most are under $10) but only about 20 items have been purchased so far, and we already have one of them (the bedding set.)

Everyone wants to buy clothes, etc, but our baby will most likely be too big for newborn sizes (DH and I were both about 9 lbs), and we have LOTS of clothes for him, thanks to my sister's hand-me-downs from my nephew.

I definitely appreciate everyone's generosity, but it's really inconvenient to have to return everything... especially when you have a big shower (60+ people) and most of them give you stuff you have to return.

Hopefully things work out for you and you can get the stuff you need!

  • We had 2 showers and I had to return a lot of items. Just in case no one told you this. If you don't have a gift receipt add the items to your registry before you go and return. Mark it as bought.

I saw BRU turn away a lady yesterday refusing to take a return because she had no receipt and no registry.

I was surprised though at how generous people were. We would return stuff and be like OMG I can't beleive they spent that much. We were very lucky to have such generous friends.

  • After my first baby shower I didn't even bother to register this time. (I really didn't even want a shower this time, but the family was nice enough to throw it for me. I will be greatful.)
